Hi dogmaryxx.
Home is where I lay my head:;
Thankyou for the link, much appreciated.0 -
When reading a book on the Kindle touch, tap the top of the screen, then tap menu and the the choice of landscape or portrait is there. Can't speak for other types.londonman81 wrote: »4. Why can't I re-orientate the screen from portrait to landscape and vice versa whilst inside a book? I can only seem to re-orientate by going back to the home page first.

On the bottom right of the screen there is a % figure that tells you how much you have read.Hi, mines a new touch, with a proper book you can feel how much you,ve to go
On the home screen there is a row of dots under each book. The row of dots is slightly darker on the left hand side indicating how far through the book you are. Something like this if you are a third of the way through the book:
............................................................................................
The longer the book, the longer the row of dots.

I use this free software, called Calibre, to transfer content to the right format.
You can also download get some newspapers and journals with it very easily and sent it to your kindle.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

hi, dave, the % cannot be removed,turned on/off, i,ve checked menu, nothing there.... the equation of number of pages in 1%x100= full number of pages in book ,still applies with all the books, obviously, font size will make it more or less.On the bottom right of the screen there is a % figure that tells you how much you have read.

Page number may be relevant for us students that need to cite a direct quote

hi, in that case, wouldn,t a book with 1400 pages=100%.1%=14.or pages 1>14, go to nearest % at bottom of page.ie 50%=page 700, press back/forward 1 page at a time,and it is+/- 1>14 pages of 700;; irrespective of font size;;;;but, obviously, you would have to quote the font size when referring to a page;, ;I,m 69, still a student of life.as the meerkat says, "Himple"; besides, that,s why there,s a loc number at bottom left of page;;;fishybusiness wrote: »Page number may be relevant for us students that need to cite a direct quote

To be honest, I don't know, although I see you logic.
I try Google Books to look for the original page numbers, it can be a pain though.0 -
Re page numbers:
I've noticed this when reading last night. Same on the Touch, you have to access the menu by tapping the top of the screen.1. it's the way the books are formatted. I have come across a few that have page numbers, but even then it does not show whilst reading the book. (you need to press the menu button)
According to Amazon, it seems that some books support page numbering and some don't.
