Advise re tescos voiding apple warranty please
Hi there
I'm not sure if I've put this query in the correct place but I'm at the end of my tether with this & just looking for a bit of advice if anyone can help please.
Very long story, very short. I have an iphone 4s which I bought from tesco (debit card payment I think) in February on contract. The phone developed a fault. Tesco asked me to send it to them for repair which I did. They returned it.
Within a couple of days phone then stopped connecting to wi fi, Tesco suggested a factory reset which I did but I now can't get past the connect to wi-fi stage in setup! Tesco insisted phone be returned for repair again! I need the phone for business (I'm now losing customers who can't contact me) although apparently it's in my Ts&Cs not to use the phone for business! Who knew? I took the phone to my nearest Apple store (approx 11/2 hours away) they just told me that because Tesco have repaired the phone, my Apple warranty is now INVALID!!!!!
Tesco insist they will only repair the phone (Tesco customer service/handset support team very polite but will only stick to this official line
I'm stuck with a very expensive phone which doesn't work & now has no manufacturer warranty.
Does anyone have any advice or ideas on how to proceed?

Tesco are willing to look at and fix your wifi setup issue, if you can't get the phone back to them, how can they fix it?
If you post the exact issue with the setup you are having, full description - maybe someone on here could tell you how to set it up.0 -
also they are correct if your on a consumer contract not businessDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

If i was running a business and losing customers, the easiest option i would think of is to buy a cheap £10/15 phone to use whilst the phone was sent off to be repaired then customers could still get in contact with me. What did you use last time you sent it off for repair?0

Yo have to give the retailer the opportunity to repair it, you have no automatic right to a replacement, nor even to a loan phone in the meantime.
Consequential loss is not claimable on a non-business contract, why did you think it would be? That's why business contracts exist. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Thanks for your replies. First of all macman I did not ask for anything regards consequential loss for my business, neither did I think it would be covered, I simply mentioned it to give you the full facts as to why I am so desperate to have the phone in good working order.
Second - the phone was only returned to me a week ago following the first repair.
Third - I just wondered if there was anything I could do regards Tesco having made the Apple warranty invalid.0 -
As long as Tesco keep repairing it, as far as consumer law is concerned, they're complying.
Your warranty is with the retailer you buy from, any manufactures warranty is an extra. If Apple gave a longer warranty(ie 2 years) you'd have a case to complain, but it's just one.
As a side issue, don't buy the Apple extended warranty for the extra year as that would be invalid... which is something you could argue with Tesco about I guess ??0
