Hi we put in a iphone to a second hand shop on a buy back and collected it after collecting after a few weeks the phone appeared to have hard wear problems, sent the phone to Apple who said they sent a replacement phone to us after they gave us two tracking ids it appeared that the man who had it in the second hand shop had registered our details and Apple sent him new iphones - now without a phone even though it was under warranty, they said they sent it correctly to the man whom re registered our account although they admit it was our phone - they have closed the case and will not help- any advice please

called the police who said although it seems fishy they cannot help !

Apple have been looking into the case for over a month and said the man who had replacement phones should give us one but we feel as we sent our phone to apple it should in fact be them that sends it to the correct address

  • he owns the shop three miles but apparently he is my neighbor, even though he lives 5 miles away
  • And Apple said that he put a serial number in the genius bar put our phone in repair box in July when it was suppose to be looked after in his shop, we got the same phone back with matching serial number and imei and sent of a repair ourselves after we got it back and they sent him a new phone all a bit odd really

You need to go back to the Police as it's fraud, identity theft as well as theft.
I would ask Apple if they are not prepared to be involved, to give you a break down of events and addresses signatures etc in writing or email and go back to the Police.
Go further up the chain if the desk try to dismiss it.

  • many thanks that is how we feel Apple said that they would not provide details and asked them for this

I still don't understand what grounds they would have not giving you details for your account so would ask them again ....don't realy understand how there is two phones knocking about either come to to that ???

Either way get the details in writing first then go to the Police with it so they can follow whats happened easily

  • Many thanks will do that
