I just use mine as a modem, the wireless signal is shockingly poor.

    Hi Adam,

Is it really that shockingly poor, I think I better give them a call. I can say my experience with Netgear router has been very poor, and do VM have alternative to this.

    Regards.

No point in giving them a call, it really IS that poor wirelessly speaking. Use it as a modem, like the previous poster said.

They don't have an alternative. I use a TP LINK 1043 router, massively improved the quality of the connection.

Is it made by Netgear? My stand alone Netgear is fine.

Mine is fine, I did go in and change the settings myself though.

I'm still using my older VMNG300 modem which still works fine on my 100MB line , so I don't see a need to upgrade to the SH yet.

I'd say if you are happy with the old one and it's working good , leave it as is until VM force it somehow!

I got one for free when my existing old modem (without wifi) failed. Had to reposition the Superhub downstairs to get a usable signal upstairs. No brick walls in the way, just the wooden joists and floorboards, probably around 20 metres away.
Did press my old 3Com wireless router back into service for a while, as that had no problem with the distance, but was only g class.

We have had endless problems with the superhub, we are on our third one now. The wireless aspect is dire, and it is very temperamental as to where it is placed. You need to become adept at changing the channels to find the best wireless output.

Agreed. Don't assume the "auto" channel selection will pick the best one to use - it doesn't in my experience, but I did find that inSSIDer was useful for seeing which channel gave the best signal.
