Looking at the initial post, well, Fax1 accepts $10 as a minimum topup and accepts Paypal. Have been using 'em for years. Credit does not expire. Cost of a fax to UK machine would be 12c, about 8p. This is what I used for personal outgoing faxes from my computer.
My personal faxes have exactly the same purpose - a relative who does not do internet but has a fax machine. She sends out via a dedicated Faxtastic 0872 number and this arrives in my email, for traffic in the opposite direction. For simplicity, I opted for PDF delivery.0 -
These people http://www.fax-number.co.uk/fax-number/fax-to-email/ offer fax to email via a 0843/0844 number which is cheaper for the faxer to use then 0871/0872/0873
From a BT line the faxer will be charged 5.11p per minute and a set-up cost of 13.1p
Worth checking if you with another supplier as some charge up to 100% more per minute. EG Virgin Media. But then again they charge more to call 0871/0872/0873 numbers.0 -
I use inweb to *receive* faxes to my e mail.

I know that's not what you asked, but maybe they offer what you want as well??0 -
Figment - re Try RJ11 to BT Plug - we have wireless broadband and cable won't reach. Don't really want to shell out for an extension hence asking for online services.
Thanks everyone else for your suggestions - will look into those and see what we can sort out.0 -
Buy yourself a cheap fax machine, or pick up a second-hand one for next to nothing? Or, if you could use a new printer/scanner/fax then pick up a multi-function wireless unit for yourself?
