Old Style Daily Thread Sat 8th Sept 2012

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 8th September. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in,put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, soplease don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Woo Hoo first time ever I have started the thread, hope I got it right.

Up early today as DS1 is off to uni. Has come round very quickly.
My sister is driving us upto there .He hardly slept last night and nerves have definately kicked in now, didnt realise just how much stuff he has. Same thing happening next weekend as well as ds2 is also back off to uni. My nest is slowly but surely getting smaller;)

Have done 2 loads of washing and just popped them on the line as weather is meant to be glorious here over the weekend , am going to get bedding done as well before we go and leave a little note for dd to pop hers in when she gets up and pop that on the line as well. Ds3 and 4 can have theirs done tomorrow unless they are feeling generous and do theirs themselves:rotfl::rotfl:.

House is tidy and so no housework really to be done , have got some chicken out to defrost and will do something with that for tea.

Will come back on later and let you know how settling ds1 in went. All I know is I have tissues with me as I and my sister are more than likely to blub like babies;);)

    Have good days all.:)

FB have a lovely day today

  • Morning uolypool and all who follow.
uolypool I hope that DS settles Ok, it is an awful wrench for us Mums because as old as they are they are still our babies x.
Didn't sleep again last night and have been up since 4:30am. One load of washing done and on the line. Will have my shower when DH gets up, so I am trying to be as quiet as I can while I tidy up downstairs.
No fixed plans for today and DH has promised DD's BF that he will have a look at his bike today.
    BFN x

good morning chums I too didn't have a great night because it was so hot and sticky. The sun is up already and it looks like its going to be a warm one again.I will slather myself in sun cream as I shall be at a craft fair today and its in the open air at Penshurst Place nr tonbridge. My sis-in-law is due to arrive from Faversham at 9.30 so I will have the picnic packed and ready by then and a nice flask of coffee. The price of food at these things is just enormous so I am taking some cheese salad rolls and some fruit and if we get peckish we can walk around the food tent there.its a great fair and the food tent has lots of free tastings :):) I usually treat myself to some nice jam or honey when I go and keep a look out for things for christmas pressies as well.We have been going every year for the past 5-6 years and I always find something unusual there
right i'm off to have a shower and make the rolls have a great day everyone what ever you are doing
    Cheers JackieO xx
  • Good morning all,
Very bright and sunny here. I have hung one load of washing out, i did it last night.
The grass needs cutting out the back so i will get that done later. The garden looks so much tidier with it cut. We will be going over the allotment sooner rather than later before it really heats up. Then we can be back before lunch time.
House is tidy, so just a quick whizz round with the hoover.
uolypool, i hope ds gets off to uni ok and settles in well.
Butterfly Brain, i hope you manage to have a better nights sleep tonight.
    JackieO, enjoy the craft fair.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

    Morning peeps :D
This will be a gratuitous OS free post. I have been rushing round side Wednesday like a blue @rsed fly and I am cream crackered. Painting conservatory done. Washing up to date. Apart from a quick trip to Aldi I am rebelling, doing a "Tru" and doing what I want to do today. Guilt free. This will mostly consist of doing b*gger all :D
I think I shall treat myself to a HM loaf in the BM and a lush HM pizza tonight for tea :D

Ulypool hope DS settles and I hope you have waterproof mascara ;)

BB hope you get a sleep later xxx

Hugs and spoons all round. Looks to be another hot one :)

  • Morning all
Hubby's at work again today, he's becoming exhausted working 6 or 7 days a week & not finishing 'til nearly 10 at night. The advert has gone out again for more staff in his department, lets hope they have more luck this time.
My plans for today include, washing, ironing, changing the beds, batch cooking for hubby's packups & having a large argument in Tesco, I'll post more about that on my blog tonight.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

  • Good Morning All

Been MIA again - busy running errands this week.

Today is warm already, I know we didn't have a summer but I am looking forward to more Autumnal weather. DS' is off to footie training this morning and I need to pop out to one town to pick up some flowers for my friends daughter who is having her 21st birthday party tonight, then off to another town as promised DD to take her to New Look.

Other than that it will be housework and ironing as long as it doesn't get too hot!

Have chicken pie with mash n veg tonight - oops just remember that do not have any potatoes, one of the towns I am visiting do have an Aldi :j - have been menu planning for September weather not heatwaves!:rotfl:

Have started getting the house back in order after the summer holidays, so far have started on the kitchen - looks so much better. Lots more to do though

DS has gone back to school today, DD goes back to college Monday which is good on one hand as I go get some time alone in the house, but bad on the other as I have to do so much running around picking her up from the station. She hasn't had many driving lessons recently - need to get some booked up.

Better get going now, have a great day all.x

    Morning all,

Good luck to all those off to uni, hope all goes well xx

Beautiful day here, have got one load in the wm, and another 2 to go, should all dry well today.

Got my sisters dog here this week, she is my dogs mum and very old now, she is really no trouble at all, as long as she can get out for a wee, and has the odd treat. She is almost completely deaf, and sometimes she does not hear you coming, and when you touch her she jumps out of her skin, bless her.

Need to take dd to Mr T today, she doubled up my clubcard vouchers and ordered a load of summer clothes in the sale, got £20 of clothes free :T

Also need to prime and undercoat the door frame, OH can work on the door which we rescued off of a bonfire, (well we rescued 3 in all) they are beautiful 1930's doors and very beautiful, but covered in years of paint. Once this is done we are just waiting for the chap to wallpaper which wont be too long.

Jacket spuds for dinner tonight, with cheese ham etc, nice and easy.

Hope you all have good days xx

    Morning everyone,

uolypool hope all goes well with DS and you don't shed too many tears.

Julie hope that the little one is not too traumatised.

Bitsy HM bread, HM pizza, what do you mean no OS!

Hester Hope that your DH is ok.

    JackieO I love craft fairs.

Butterflybrain hope you sleep better tonight.

Halight Glad the twins enjoyed school.

Have been missing for the last few days as work has been really busy. The children came back full of enthusiasm and I was reminded how much I love my job.:D

DS is loving 6th form and DD1 and DD2 have settled back in well to school.

Last night all the children had friends round and I ended up making 11 HM pizzas which were all wolfed down, thank heavens for the bread machine!

Today I need to catch up with the housework and do a bit of shopping.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)
