I would never dream of asking.
But, how many of the "i would never pay extra for the sellers under estimation" would ask for a part refund before marking down the dsr/leaving bad feedback, if the seller 'over estimated' the postage?Lose is to not win......Loose is not tight......get it right!0 -
Items arrived today and i am well happy.
I have now informed the seller that its a no-no to ask for more money.
But as i didnt have to in the end - so its 5 stars all round. I'm just too nice0 -
No I wouldn't, and I would be embarrassed to ask if I was the seller!
Tbh I am a bit sick of how lax alot of sellers are. I am pretty much put off buying clothes now and soft toys really anything that is likely to get mucky cos sellers who care are getting few and far between.1,2 & 5p: Christmas day food £9.31
10 & 20p: misc savings £2.70
50p: Christmas presents £3.50
£2: holidays £2.000 -

Well, the buyer/seller relationship is lopsided - it's not a reciprocal deal. When sellers pay their buyers, then it would be a bit cheeky. But I don't think it's unreasonable the way it presently goes.
The buyer is the one paying.
No, I wouldn't pay - on principle. I bid what I'm prepared to pay - I've lost out a number of times as a seller, but then adjusted things to compensate and moved on.

I realise you might not have realised about the job lot category, which is fine (and understandable), but there's an element here of when it suits you as a seller it's OK to ask for more than the postage cap, but it's not OK for sellers to ask you for more. At least you stated it up front."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

I can see the OP's point. If he had refused the seller might have found a reason not to send the item (or pretend to send). I think OP did the right thing by paying up then reminding seller of the rules.
I would have mentioned in the the FB too.

I would have only paid what was due according to eBay and dared them not to send.
Paying up, however reluctantly, suggests to them that it's OK to bully buyers in this way - yes, you can leave feedback, but it's a bit spineless after you have given in to this sort of thing."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

I once got the same request from a seller who said she had already sent the item but it had cost more to post than she thought and would I mind paying the extra 1.50 or so.
I waited for the item to come to check she was telling the truth and soft-hearted as I am, I did send her the extra. I had got the item at a good price and she did ask nicely. However, I couldn't help pointing out in my reply that I doubt if she would have refunded the excess if it had cost less than expected.0
