Personally I find that I sweat less with my memory foam mattress than I did with my previous one.

Tim, what kind do you personally use, please?

    Thanks

We had to send ours back, not just the sweating thing, but the smell was terrible too...like a sort of damp, 'foosty' smell in the room. it was definitely the mattress.

We were roasting, even with a thin summer tog duvet. I woke with soaking hair from sweating! Yeuch. I was also very disappointed, as it was incredibly comfy...like sinking into a marshmallow.

The shop we bought it from changed it for a similar priced normal mattress without a question...made me wonder if they had lots of complaints.

What type of memory foam mattress was it?

The smell often associated with memory foam mattresses is caused by the fire retardent chemicals that are used. Usually the reason for the smell is because the the foam has been used to make the mattress before all the chemicals have dried properly, and it is then sealed in plastic which doesn't help matters. This problem only tends to occur in memory foam/latex foam mattresses, as the air can't circulate as well as sprung/memory foam mattresses. However the smell should go within a couple of weeks in a well aired room, but it isn't very nice until it does.
