You should be able to use your old e-mail address, it is only being used as a signing in name - just as you use a name on MSE.
If you get your own domain (only a few quid a year) you can:
1. Have as many addresses as you want.
2. Keep those addresses for ever.0 -

Well - for as long as you keep paying for the domain and hosting.0 -
Or you can just try Gmail for the new email address - I assume they're going to be around for a long while.
But yes, I think you can always use the old email address to just login. However, if you forget a password, they'll only be able to send the verification email to that old inaccessible email address, and you won't be able to change the address without the password. So don't forget the password.0 -
to correct bod1467, if you own domain ,you do not need hosting, for years I have had a domain with quite a few email @ free from 123reg ,I redirect my email from my ISP to domain email and then redirect to free email at gmail.com
if I have too many spam/junk email ,I delete my domain email to another one and reduce spam ie. mail@ postbox@ me@ ect.0 -

Hi, just sign up for new accounts, that you won't lose on gmail/hotmail/yahoo/ovi then you'll always have a back up address, however if you use your current address for online shopping/utility/banking accounts etc. you need to change the email log in before it stops working.
You would still be able to log in but ...............you can always use the old email address to just login.
