Not turning engines off/revving engines

I thought it was just me who's irritated by this! I live in a cul-de-sac with parking bays on one side of the street (houses on one side only) and people love to park up and leave their engines running for ages. Why?? Before the digital signal was boosted when they turned the analogue one off, all these engines would interfere with my telly reception too.
Over and over again of an evening I'd be watching something only to have it break up because some !!!!!!'s sat opposite with the engine running.

Years ago the teenage girl two doors down from me got herself a new fella. He was inordinately proud of his heap-o-shite jalopy and would pitch up in it, park it in the bays opposite my house, leave the engine running, open all four doors, the boot and the bonnet and crank his stereo right up. !!!!!!??"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

We've got a little viewpoint / layby on the lane nearly opposite our house and I've lost patience with the 'engine running' brigade.
I now give them a choice to either turn their engines and music off or be pushed over the cliff with the help of my neighbour's tractor.
It's worked so far.

Can I borrow your tractor? a very handy quarry not far from the end of my street!:)0 -
My neighbour allows his obnoxious grandson to sit in his drive revving his engine AND listening to incredibly loud music whenever he comes to visit (which is annoyingly often). Fortunately, my elaborate and completely above board revenge plot is coming to fruition at the moment so I shall enjoy the look on his face when it all comes off...!0

OP, report them to the police as it is an offence to run your engine when stationary under the "The Road Traffic (Vehicle Emissions) (Fixed Penalty) (England) Regulations 2002"
They are committing a stationary idling offence. Part 6: - "12.—(1) An authorised person who has reasonable cause to believe that the driver of a vehicle that is stationary on a road is committing a stationary idling offence may, upon production of evidence of his authorisation, require him to stop the running of the engine of that vehicle.
(2) A person who fails to comply with a requirement under paragraph (1) shall be guilty of an offence and be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 3 on the standard scale."
It is also an offence to use a mobile phone in a stationary vehicle whilst the engine is running Rule 149 "You MUST NOT use a hand-held mobile phone, or similar device, when driving or when supervising a learner driver", (driving includes a stationary vehicle whilst the engine is running).
[Laws RTA 1988 sects 2 & 3 & CUR regs 104 & 110]
£60 fine and 3 penalty points for the mobile phone offence, that should concentrate their minds.

I'd love to see you try this with me. I'd of course tell you what a massive tool you were, followed by making sure you were aware of the repercussions of so much as laying a finger on my car.
You don't sound 'cool' or 'hard' threatening people with being pushed off a cliff, just a total bell end.0 -

What would those repercussions be exactly?0 -

Well if they choose to take action such as shunting it with a tractor, then it would fl under criminal damage - id make them well aware I'd take any damage to the Police as people can't just go throwing their weight around.
Other less serious action would probably involve a book, and a fancy for a late night reading session at a viewpoint, complete with diesel idle clatter.

I think its pretty obvious they were talking tongue in cheek and proving how annoying the idling engines are and had no intention of actually doing that. I think it is you who has come accross as a tool and a bell end with your OTT reaction.
