Contract start date
I have never had a contract phone before so I'm sure sure if this can be done but can you choose a contract start date?
I want to get my mum a new phone for xmas but don't want the contract starting until Christmas day. I'm obviously not thinking about getting it now but maybe a month before. Is this a possibility or does it just start at the time you get the phone?

It starts when you get the phone, you can't have it start in 5 months. A weeks or so maybe, but not months. . .0

I recently took out a new contract with Vodafone on a Friday. The contract started the next day, Saturday. However the SIM was not due to arrive until the following Monday. So would have been being charged but no service. As it happens it was lost by Yodel and the replacement (by Royal Mail) turned up the following Saturday. So I asked for credit for the eight days. Just waiting to see it it has been credited or not to my next bill or not.0

As it says in my original post I was asking if I could get it a month in advance. I wasn't assuming I could get it 5 months in advance. I guess I'll just go in and ask.
No. You can't. I tried to get a phone delivered and then for the contract to start 5 days later when I got back from hols. No joy.
Thinking about it they want their money straight away. Why would they give you something for free you're not paying for?
Most places do next day delivery. Just do it on 23rd to arrive on 24th. Only one day then.0 -
I think that some networks can put a delay on the contract, I was offered upto 30 days delay by Three last month when I was talking about switching to them.
I may have been misinformed though... salesperson looking for commission etc..0
