Could anyone please help.
In the last 4 years I have been with, Sky, Plus net, 02, each gave me around 1.5 mbps, when in fact I can get 17 mbps, each gave me a load of flannel and did nothing to help, sky I argued for 7 months before leaving, now I don't trust them, (just look at their forums).went to plus net, I had to report them to the Ombudsman to get out of the contract, 02 told me there was nothing they could do! I went to Talk talk been with them for over 1 year, a lot of problems since January, the phone is muffled, but the speed 14 mbps but pages slow to load watching video is impossible, they sent out a tech who said I should be happy with 14 I told him I would be if it was true, he admitted the speed was fast but content load slow, then left!
Please WHO can I go to for phone and internet, I cannot get cable.
We use about 20 gig a month.

The house is only 4 years old, I used the master socket, (which makes no difference to speed) and I did get 7 with sky (before the exchange upgrade)for about 8 months, I was with 02 for 12 months no probs but got rid of my 02 phone so price went up, also noticed Talk talk it is slower at peak times!

I have little idea about anything to do with IT but I'm with TalkTalk and I've just done a speed test at 5.58pm and it's about 3mbp. At that speed pages load fast and I can watch the videos on YouTube without any problem.
    It's someone else's fault.

Currently with Demon. Pay for an 8Mb package and according to my Samknows account (I have a box supplied by them when I took part in the great OfCom speedtest) my average peed is 6.9 Mb.

They are about to switch their mail to MS Exchange Server, so I will only be using them for the net from now on and will self-host my email on a nice secure Linux server.
    Never Knowingly Understood.

Wow I run at 14 and even pictures do not load straight away when I report it to talktalk they just say you get 14 so are fine? I have several computers (not running together) and it is the same on all computers.

    Hi Dhep1,

The line speed isnt the only factor in the pages loading and streaming. You may wish to lower your MTU setting in your router from the default of 1492 to 1400.

If you still experience issues please either visit the TalkTalk Membeers Forum or tweet us @TalkTalkCare

Actually the mtu was set at 1432, I have set it to 1400 and I will see if this works.
I will tell you something though, if this works I will be even more angry with talktalk because I have been reporting this problem since January 2012!

..when in fact I can get 17 mbps..
Can OP give more details such as what was the source of that rate , an estimate from an ISP or an actual experienced. at same or another address, which ISP?

Were all the slow ISPs BT based?

OP says that connection to the master socket has been tried. Has OP connected to the test socket to exclude internal wiring faults, or used a wired phone to exclude noise?
