Negative or Neutral??

OK bought an item of electronics on the 25th August, seller thinks it is acceptable to send to me on the 5th of September despite their listing stating send within 2 working days, naffed off about this but to make matters worst they have also completely ignored 2 emails I have sent them over the last week.

Their postage and communication stars will be 1 but should I then do a neg or a neutral I cannot make my mind up, I am annoyed by this as I have had to wait in every day this week for our postie as item would not fit through letter box, so I feel annoyed enough to leave a neg but I do not like leaving them.

What would you do?

    What would you do?

There could be various reasons, but from the information you have provided it is impossible to tell.

the 25th August was a Saturday, and the following monday was a bank holiday. So it may not have been posted untilthe 30th August. The 1st September was a Saturday, so that leaves the 3rd and 4th. So if they used Royal Mail, then this was within their first class delivery time. Also you didn't say if it was posted in the UK or not?

Did the seller provide tracking information, or would they if you asked for it? After all you wouldn't have had to wait in if you had tracked it.

Is it postmarked? Just because PPI has been a bit delayed recently for some. If it was postmarked on that date I'd probably leave a neutral (if you're happy with the item).

    too many comps..not enough time!

    Hello

Thanks for the reply, it was posted within the UK, the seller did not even bother to mark it as despatched on Ebay, no tracking cam as what looks to be standard parcels, the post office got it on the 5th September and it arrived this morning so pretty quick service from them.

mmmmm even more puzzled as to what to do now I had forgotten all about the bank holiday, then again they did have the Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of that week to get it sent and the following Monday and Tuesday.

The thing that has annoyed me more is how they have completely ignored my 2 emails, if they had replied I would have took it on the chin but I hate sellers that ignore you and don't bother to reply to emails.

Yeah the date on the package is the 5th Spetember, I am happy with the item it was only a cheap spares or repair piece of electronics I wanted it for a spare part and that seems to work so it is completely as described, just late and from a seller that has ignored me :(

  • Was it first class standard parcel? It sounds more likely it was posted on the 5th September to me, or the post mark on it would be earlier, surely?

Sounds like you're probably dealing with a similar person to me: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4154757 so I'm understandably going to be biased towards a neg. :o

Overall though, if you feel it wasn't a positive ebay experience, I would leave neg and state clearly that they didn't fulfill dispatch commitment or communicate to follow up requests. Otherwise, if you're not that bothered and it hasn't inconvenienced you, maybe just a neutral or even positive but mark down the stars.

In all honesty, it doesn't matter to their seller performance whether you leave a negative or neutral. It's the stars that do the damage.

  • If you are happy with the item, then I would leave a neutral, but mark them down on communication and dispatch time.

I was going to give you a link to find out the sellers phone number, but ebay seem to have removed it.

True, but novice buyers are more likely to look at actual positive/negative than the DSR. I would not think a seller with a 4.7 in anything is low but have been educated by the good folks here that it is. ;)

  • The thing that is making me think twice is the seller just seems like a normal person selling off whatever around them, they only have feedback in the 70's, his (or hers oops) communication is 4.9 despatch time and P+P charges are both 4.8 that is off 67 reviews, their feedback is 100% so to be the first to leave a neg seems a bit harsh, it is the fact they ignored my emails that makes me want to neg them.

Maybe I am thinking about it too much....

  • Well then don't trash their feedback, leave a neutral and mention the slow delivery/poor comms and just mark down the stars instead. Your conscience is clear. :)
