You can check out the website for Alcatraz HERE
Just beware that some tours are good value they rush you about to keep to their timetable. We spent nearly half a day at Alcatraz as it was soo interesting. So decide wether you want to spend time yourselves at certain things or take it as it comes. Most of the attractions in SF are only a short ride away on public transport.**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI0 -
A trip on the 1955 SF fire engine is a must. Excellent value for money

The alcatraz city tour combo is good for the money.Alcatraz is unmissable, you will recognise lots of it, especially the steps.Get off the tour bus and touch the San Andreas fault,Run down the hill at the walkaround break and touch the Pacific in case you never get the chance again.
The diner just down the road from the Westin St Francis in Union Square is very cool with half car hanging out of the wall, and the breakfasts are great.
Hang off the side of the tram if you dare- they are a cool and effective way to get around- pretty cheap too, even without the travel ticket thing you can buy.
We stayed in the Westin St. Francis, but felt it was over the top on extravagance and a bit snooty- just go into the lobby for a wee nosy at the chandeliers and the decor, very MSE.;)
p.s. The sea lions you will see while waiting on the next boat for Alcatraz really stink:rotfl:Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
