Just announced. I haven't got any other pc except the old clunker in the corner, so this has got me interested

I have a big question - I have never used w-fi - but how will I connect to the internet using the Fire. Will I have to change my internet provider, or is it free or what?
I know I sound totally clueless - but when it comes tio these sort of things I almost am, and probably not alone

Hi just to let you know my friend bought one in the USA a few months ago and loves it, her hubby bought the ipad, but hers is neater and in my opinion nicer. I also have loads of apple stuff and find this as easy to use and not as bulky for the bag (if you use one). If your in the market go for it, I would, but as I said I have most of the apple gear.
Hope that helps.:p0 -
thanks both
I'll have to get the wi-fi set up at home as well - now there's a job for me
)
I think I'll get one
Cheers

You can also connect using the micro-USB port, (but you'd be crazy not to use the built in wi-fi).No free lunch, and no free laptop

Depends what you want to do but compare the specs with the Google Nexus 7 before you commit. For example the Nexus 7 has GPS, and motion sensors whereas the Kindle Fire HD does not.
