Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 7th September. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in,put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, soplease don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

morning all:j:j
Chilly again here this morning.
Well a lazy day here is planed. Might take the girls to the park for something later, Iv got to go to the dentist this afternoon again.
My Wife Is a leader In the local Girls brigade at the church she goes too. So she and the twins will be off there tonight for a couple of hours. Its the first week back after the summer holiday and they are having a party night.
Lunch today will be salad with some of the left over chicken from the BBQ dinner we had last night.
I'm not sure what we will be having for dinner tonight but as they are off to GB then my wife and I will probable eat after the girls have gone to bed. We have a rolled lambs breast In the freezer so I might roast that and serve it with roast spuds and veg.
I don't know if any of you watched the war time farm last night. We recorded so we have that to look forward to. Might put it on tonight.
We have a great day all:j:j:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -
Morning Halight and all to follow,
Cooler here this morning too, I am sleeping much better at night too, due to the drop in tempreture.
Off to work for me today, need to drop dd and the dog of first, finish a bit earlier today, so not too bad.
Will do a wash when I get in and hang it on the line, can probably stay out all night if we are not due rain.
Tacos for dinner tonight, dd requested them, will have to do a veggi mince batch as we have run out.
Happy Birthday to Moiliere :bdaycake: have not 'seen' you for a while, hope you are ok xxxx
Julie, how terrible, I feel for you all, hope your DGS is ok xxx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Blue sky with light cloud, real nip in the air though, forecast says sunshine all day, DH up and off to work stupid early. Washing out on the line.
Was productive yesterday, so did manage to get the housework done, washing, drying and ironing done, now have a few bits to put in the WM but not enough to make up a load, but will have school/work uniforms etc at the end of today so will put WM on later. Also managed to get our bed stripped, and bedding washed, dried and put away in airing cupboard, bed re-made with clean bedding etc. Also started clearing out a cupboard, this is where we store catalogues, brochures (ie A***s) etc and found paperwork from 2008 - think a clear out is a bit overdue!! Mood is much improved this morning, think I just get bogged down everything and can't seem to get anything done etc. Spoke to SIL yesterday and they have confirmed (although verbally and via text message, which, of course, I've kept) that they are going to pay for the damage, a new door and interior fixings are required - just under £600! Looked like they were questioning why it was so much, so SIL rang me and I put her straight and told her to come round and see the damage for herself - they haven't been near us or until yesterday even spoken to us about it, they have sent apologetic texts after I'd told her some home truths yesterday afternoon! Sincerely hoping they just pay up and the door can be fixed and we can move on, just proves even family will try and s***w you! Went to mum's and she liked her prezzie.
Today I have all the normal chores, bank, town and food shopping, have started using A**i for main part of shop then on to one of the big SM's for the bits I can't get in there, it doesn't mean lots of travelling about either as A**i is next door to A**a or MrT I have to go past to get home, so either is en route, think I may visit MrT today as they have some offers on and I was sent some vouchers through the post. Once food shopping etc has been done, will be at home and will do some baking, haven't done any for a while so will be nice to spend some time doing that and will also get the cupboard clearing finished.
Have a great Friday everyone and take care in the sun x
Have a good day, stay safe and well x

On the way to work and feeling rather smart even though im wearing a £4.50 asda dress, scarf made from a ripped up blanket and a broken bark effect 60s watch! Were having all the family over for a meal this weekend, hoping the weather stays ok so we can eat outside - my dad, would shot himself if someone got curry on the carpet. This means another trip to Costco
Im also gonna finish a top im making this weekend and make one of my jute bags for my sisters friend :-)Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -

DD1 is coming with us but we will share a cooked breakfast
DD2 is off to 6th form , she seems to be enjoying it , except she doesnt like sociology and is looking to swap to french instead, she is going to talk to the teachers today

Morning ladies and gent. Sun is up bit a bit chilly atm.
Happy birthday mioliere have a great day.
Not to much going on today, must finish sorting out recipes for ds1 , he is off to uni tomorrow. Going out for a meal at lunchtime with him, just us two as he was unable to get the evening off work. Going to be so quiet here from next weekend as ds2 goes back then. So will be going from a family of 6 to a family of 4. Wonder how much I can drop my shopping bill to.
Other than that not much else going on. Have lovely days allPaul Walker , in my dreams;)0 -
Morning :hello:
Happy Birthday Moiliere :bdaycake:
Shopping this morning, I'm going to buy extras to get the total up to £90 so I can have £5 offI'll buy a bottle of wine for myself, just because I deserve it
I haven't got much to do today, for some reason I haven't been able to sit still this week so I've flitted about and got everything done. I'm getting bored now. We're going on holiday in a few weeks, when I get back the temporary Christmas job ads will start to appear. I'm thinking I can ease myself back into work with a part-time temp job, by the time it's over I'll be used to working again and can get something permanent. Hopefully
After a rubbish first half of the year, the second half is going quite well. Nice and calm, a couple of bits of good news, and mr tru goes out a lot. Perfect :rotfl:
Our fruit and veg total so far is 90lbBulletproof0 -
Morning Halight and all,
gorgous sunny day here. I'm really wishing i was at the beach right now. Stick me on a beach for the day and i'm one happy lady. I love the sea, i love rivers and canals too (wouldnt like to live on a houseboat though as i like my space!).
I was awake before the dogs this morning, garden duties done and dusted. I need to get some seed for the birds the weekend as the feeder is empty and the little birds keep coming for a feed only to find the feeder is empty. Cant be having birds visiting my garden and leaving with empty tummies.... The wood pigeons can sod off though they chase the little birds away.
Good news is that i managed to clean all my windows yesterday. Bad news is that i need to do my upstairs windows again as they look streaky and awful. Much worse than before i cleaned them. I'll clean them again maybe today or sometime over the weekend. It just shows, all these gadgets that are supposed to make life easier.... well, they aint any better than doing a job the long winded way. I just wish i was a good 12" taller thats all.
Hubby is home tonight so we will have pork (his favourite) in the hope he will be in a better mood than he was last weekend.
Have a warm and sunny Friday all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
