I don't think many people would mind being charged a broker fee if they delivered a loan as they imply they will in hours. The anger people feel is because they are misled, imho they do this on purpose, however and whatever they may say about their terms being clear and you should read their terms (which you should anyway). I have not fallen victim to their sales methods, but this is a sample of the texts they send me daily..."New Offer, TODAY ONLY!! Take £400 now and pay NOTHING BACK until next year! All applications will be paid out! https://www.TheSafetyNetUK.com - FUNDING TODAY!"
I have many such texts, and sometimes the company is loans direct, sometimes others, but it's obvious when you land on their application page they are the same company. This in itself is misleading, but let's just look at their words: What could be clearer than "All applications will be paid out"? But they don't, of course,, not even in 30 days, and there's the rub. They take their fee and in MOST cases they do NOT pay out, ever. Then they make it hard to claim a refund. THIS is what annoys people.
This should be simple. Their text should say: "We are credit brokers and shall charge a fee to see if we can find you a loan. No guarantees, but it's worth a try. We are ready for your application today."
That would be honest. But of course they wouldn't get much business.
This needs legislation as the text I illustrate (I have hundreds of other variants) is very close to obtaining money under false pretences.0 -
WARNING - for anyone have financial difficulties.
Do not even think about registering for this site as the minute you do they will regard you as a member and take £69.75 from your account.
Admittedly I was stupid enough not to see the whole charging you bit as I was in real need of a short term loan and quick. So I take full responsibility in not noticing this beforehand.
Now when I enquired about a refund the crap surely hit the fan!
This is a quote from their "Can I get a refund" section in FAQ's:-
"We pride ourselves on offering value for money and doing everything we can to provide a valuable service to all our members.
If however you are not happy with your membership then we are happy to cancel your account.
You can do this by logging into your online membership area and going to the 'My Account' section.
Follow the instructions on the screen to cancel your account and request a refund."
When I called them, they said that they were happy to issue me with a refund within 30 days. So 2 weeks later I still had not received my money back (minus the £5 admin charge!) so I tried calling them again - lo and behold I couldn't even get through to a person to speak to them and I tried several times but all the call gave me were options to pick then referred me to their website. Eventually I gave up and emailed them and was told that yes I could still expect my refund and they gave me a date. However the following week when I chased them again they gave me a different date for when my 30 day period was to begin. I reiterated the fact that they say within 30 days and not in 30 days but all I got back was a standard "your refund will be with you in 30 days".
So now I'm on the 29th day of the 2nd date they gave me and I have contacted them by email said that I was going to make a complaint to FSO, warn people from signing up to their site etc and I have not heard a single word.
Now, bearing in mind I told them of my financial difficulties and that I was looking for a short term loan at the time of £100 for bills and that I would appreciate if they would refund me as soon as possible. I also explained that I took responsibility for signing up and not realising about the charge but that surely I would not be looking for a loan of £100 if I was only going to see £30 of that if they were going to charge me.
Valuable service - they really are spinning a lot crap!
If you don't want to go through the stress that I have then I urge you to avoid loans direct at all costs. If you are looking for a short term loan I would recommend QuickQuid - I have had a great experience with them.0 -
Best advice is never give your card details to someone you don't want to give money to.0

Unfortunately, you are a little late in warning readers of this forum to beware of Loans Direct.
There are many, many warnings about the company on these pages, and many, many pages of advice on how to get your money back. A search on here will soon find the advice you need to obtain a refund."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
What phone number do you use to get in contact with them, I've been emailing every 30 mins for the past week and never had a reply from them.0

You don't. But you'll find the answer on the first page of this thread.0 -
What answer is that, that is relevant after 2 years, the address to write to on the first post isn't the same as the one on the website.0

What zx81 is saying is that you DO NOT PHONE OR EMAIL. You write to the address given on the website of the loan broker concerned.
On this thread alone there are eight pages of advice about writing to obtain a refund and not to telephone or email, but still people are asking for telephone numbers and email addresses.
It does make you wonder how long the message will take to sink in."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
Okay so I've sent a formal letter of complaint to their address given on their Complaints page. Not very surprising in the least - "addressee gone away". I've now tried a different address.0
