2 Applications in a week

I haven't applied for a credit card for over a year now. Do you think it will harm my 'score' if I apply for two credit cards in one week, on the same day even?

I applied for two cards in mid March - same week I think - and had applied for one in February. Got all three. I'd last applied for one in January prior to that (go that as well, though cancelled it as it wasn't the offer they'd been offering), so I would think you'd be okay. Good luck with it.

I don't see anything wrong technically in what you are doing but why do you need 2 cards straight away?

You've obviously got a good credit rating!

Yep, I think this must be the case. If you imagine if someone has an excellent rating after applying for 3 cards in a short space of time will probably now have a fair rating. If you started with a fair rating and applied for 3 cards you might get the first card but then it might put your rating into the poor bracket and declined another one. So it does matter what state you credit file is in.

cc companies will be wary of people who seem in desperate need of credit and or possible cc fraud which is what 2 apps on the same day could look like

Equally I'm hoping 2 applications looks like I'm trying to get the best deal.

Hi Jay, unfortunately for us it doesnt work that way :)

I would at least give it a week or 2 between them, some scoring boards will reject you automatically for having too many searches in the last 6 months, depending on the company, also you are more likely to be offered a poorer rate if you have lots of searches on your file, rightly or wrongly.

Companies now have an option to do a quotation search which will be able to tell you the rate you will be offered and only if you take up the offer will a full credit search be shown on your file, but so far I have yet to find one, anybody ???

Does anyone know how to stop getting application forms for unwanted credit cards? I have credit cards, and get fed up with all the stuff Capital One keep sending me, for myself and four other people who don't live at my house. They arrive on a regular basis, I send them back in their freepost envelopes telling them to stop, but I still keep getting them. I am registered with mail preference service to stop the junk, but Capital One are persistent.
I am new to the forum, though I always get the email, so sorry if this has been covered. Please help.

I applied for egg card to start with on Friday 2 weeks back. Immediately I followed on to apply for egg money card. And the following Tuesday I applied for BMIbaby card. Well, I am not too happy with the way i started my stoozing stint, as initially i had not planned to apply for two credit cards.

But I was accepted for all the three cards, egg money card c/l 3500, egg card c/l 4500, bmibaby card c/l 3500. My credit rating was fair due to change in residential address.

I presume it will affect my rating in terms of repetitive searches by cc companies, but I think cc companies would be more interested in seeing my previous repayment record. I never ever had any late payment notifications against me and more importantly made early repayments of most of my outstanding balances and loans (one which i cleared with 4 years to spare).
