Radiators not working after power cut
Hi all,
I had a power cut last night caused by a short circuit in the fuse box. We managed to get the power back but now the radiators wont work. I've tried flipping the fuse switch for the radiators but still not had anything.
Is there anything else I can try or am I going to be stuck with another bill I can't afford?
Thanks.

There is no timer, there are 2 radiators in the flat that are wired into the wall with an on/off switch. The controls are independent of each other and attached to the front of the radiator. They use a 24-hour pin timer and have a always-on and timed switch.0 -
Is there power to the heater? If not, have you rest the MCB for the actual circuit that the heaters are on?No free lunch, and no free laptop

There is probably a wall fused spur.
The fuse may have blown when power came back.0 -
I'd call an electrician in.
Short circuit in the fuse box. Heaters not working. Sounds like you have some serious electrical issues that need attending to.0 -
Goody. Looking forward to the massive bill that I can't afford. I'm renting, does that make any different? We have a "maintenance guy" but I'm sure I'll have to pay for an electrician anyway. There's a little fuse box next to the power for each radiator, is it worth opening and checking? I've already reset the fuse box multiple times.0

If you rent, all this is the responsibility of your landlord!
If the MCB keeps tripping out, then clearly there is a fault on the circuit or appliance that needs professional attention. No free lunch, and no free laptop

The MCB tripped out from I'm guessing an overload of the sockets (although there was a lot less plugged in than usual) since that was the switch that had tripped. It's only tripped once since we've been here though. I can only guess that it's messed with the radiators somehow. I've tried resetting the switch in the box for the radiators but still nothing. The timer dial on each radiator isn't moving either so I'm assuming they're not getting any power.0

A short circuit in a fuse box is not a trivial issue. How did the "short circuit" manifest itself and what did you do (as a non-sparky I assume) to remedy the short circuit?0 -

I did mention this above. From what I can understand the fuses tripped because of a socket overload as that was the switch that was tripped when we opened the fuse box. To fix it we flipped the switch back up and the power came back, except for the radiators it seems.0
