We're nearly up to 4 weeks too...
Short chain but apparently the buyer at the bottom hasn't actually got the mortgage offer in writing.. although their solicitor agreed to the original exchange/completion dates. Latest was that the offer was sent out on Monday but has not yet arrived. Personally I think they are taking the p*** with this.
We just want to exchange, as we are going into rented and have the rental arranged. We don't want to sign the rental agreement until we have exchanged. Don't mind a bit of overlap between moving to rented and completion but need to have exchanged.
Trying (unsuccessfully) not to be too stressed.

Yes, ours is very similiar. Started with the mortgage offer, then something else, then something else etc, etc. Which is fine, however, throughout the whole time they keep agreeing exchange dates and completion dates then missing them (next week will be our 4th) and requesting new ones. At the end of day if you're not in a position to agree a date then don't blinking do it:mad: Solicitor promised my solicitor he had drawn down funds on fri so hopefully we will be able to exchange early next week and complete Friday, however it would not surprise me in the slightest if he hasn't done it and we're bumped again:eek:. To be honest if the market was buoyant at the moment I would have told him to stuff it - its just not worth the messing about - but as properties around here are quite slow they have you over a barrell. Just makes me so cross that people can be so disorganised. All of the delays involving our sale (all just run of the mill stuff) could easily been avoided if people had done the things that they were suppossed to do at the right time. I have to add my solicitor has been great and to be fair so have our agents but i think everyone it reaching the end of their tether now!:(

Oh crickey, might have a while to wait yet then
Let's hope we all manage to exchange by the end of the week :)
