Receiving same text message repeatedly

Please help. I got a text this morning from a friend, I then received the same message 8 times over the course of the day at different times. I also received a text from my mum this evening, and it has now come through 5 times.
They both have sent them only once and were not aware of the repeat texts until I told them. I am on orange and they are both on o2.
Is this common, is it my phone or their network.
Please help
