When is then best time to book Ryanair flights?

We want to go from Liverpool to Arrecife in January, and have been checking prices regularly, they've jumped up by about £40 per person in last couple of weeks.
Now, the last time we went to Lanzarote we booked a late deal (flights and hotel separately) about 10 days before and paid HALF of what the prices are now! Do they generally go down the closer it is to departure? Or was i just lucky last time?!
I don't wanna wait and the prices rocket or they get fully booked up :(
September £5 a day challenge £65.41/£125 :)

Sales usually cover the upcoming couple of months. I'd personally wait until there's a sale for January though there are no guarantees that the flights you want will go down.

Sorry to jump in on the thread but the current sale is up to 18th Dec - do you think prices for over xmas/new year will come up on a sale soon, there seems to be loads of availability on the flights I'm looking at?

Or do the Xmas ones never go onto sales?

I noticed last year that there were some bargains to be had a few days before Christmas if you left booking until early/mid November. But it is a gamble. I don't suppose there are reductions on all routes.

In January and February this year there were some incredible bargains, but again only available about 6 weeks or so before hand.
  • January is one of the cheapest prices for flights out off the whole year, you just need to be patient, you could wait from 3 months before untill 2 weeks before your flight date, but you will get it cheaper.

It's probably best to ignore the sales, as individual prices are just based on supply and demand so it depends how popular an individual flight is. If you can be flexible with flight dates to get the best prices, I would book in late-October / early-November time if I were you.

Compare with other airlines too, as Ryanair can be more expensive after all the extra charges are added up.

Oh, and don't slip up on any of their rules in case you are labelled "stupid": https://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/travelnews/9522191/Ryanair-boss-slams-idiot-who-forgot-boarding-pass.html#

I have found, generally speaking, six weeks before is the best time to buy.

thanks everyone, i think i'll wait. I would look at other airlines but we will be flying from Liverpool airport, and only Ryanair and EasyJet fly to our destination from there. I'll just keep checking prices, hopefully they'll be as good as what we paid last time if i hang on!

  • I've just checked the Xmas flights I've been keeping an eye on and there are now no taxes on the return flight, so the price has come down about £8.

Might hold off a little longer as I also have the choice of Easyjet or a mix and match between Ryanair and Easyjet flights.
