This is the first time i have started a meal plans thread. I hope thats ok?

I am out of sync atm, so my meal plan starts tomorrow, buit my plan is to extend it during the week so that I can get back on the same time scale as other OSers.:o

I used tomplan ten days (which worked out as a fortnight) ahead but atm i am impressed i am coping a week at a time, but thats how i really got out of sync.

Last week (this week for most) i made my changes in red to help those who are new to meal planning see that a meal plan can be altered and tweaked to fit in with changed pans or circumstances. I pllan to do that this week too.

So, enough gassing!

Thurs
Mushroom pasta. I started planning this earlier in the week when it was cold. Its a bit autumnal for this indian summer, but never mind. I shall freshen it up with lots of fresh parsley. Pudding will be a fruit salad of the late strawberries and a pineapple i was given.
Strawberries are not plentiful enough, we will have them for breakfast. Instead i have made some 'apple mush' which the others can have with a spoon of cream
Fri
Autumn butternut mix. Dh and i love this, its just cubed butternut, some chestnuts (too early but i have some in a tin) and some garlic baked. Near the end i sometimes add a few pieces of pancetta or streaky bacon, till its crisp and crumbly, and then, justa couple of minutes before the end, put in cubes of a blue cheese. For us this is usually gorganzola dulce, like dulcelatte here. This time it might be some stilton from the never ending freezer stash of stilton.
Blackberry pancakes. American style. With syrup. Either maple if we have some or i will make a blackberry syrup.

Sat
Mushroom stroganoff and wild rice. I have never made mushroom stroganoff.:o. Then....blackberry and apple something or other.. Gotta eat whats ready in the garden really! We ended up not having pudding last night, partly because the parent who loves with me and hates butternut decided it was alright after all, ate seconds of last nights supper and no one was hungry enough. So tonight i will offer the pancakes. Its so warm i think i might have not opted for the stroganoff tonight apart from the fact that i have need of comfort food tonight, and imo sour cream is a good ingrediant to any comfort meal, so we are having it. It does get cool later in the evenings so i am sure every one will be fine with it and Its lighter than beef stroganoff in anycase. Its tomorrow nights soup i am worrying about now though.....its just dh and i, we might get a takeaway. :).

Sun
Butternut soup. One of our absolute favourites. With apple dumplings. Yep, we have decided ro get a takeaway, vegetarian chinese food. Its just us, and the butternut will keep til thurday when we will have the soup. We still have that pineapple, so i will grill that too, and make a sweet dipping sauce for it for a pud.

Mon
Not my day to cook. :D

Tues
L/o mince from freezer

Wed
Some one else cooking!

Thursday
Butternut soup and apple dumplings, re assigned from sunday
Did not have this after all, as it was just me, So i will make this at the weekend instead.

Friday
Mussels and some lovely bread
Mussels were a hell of a price at the fishmonger today, but they had five forlorn scallops so i grabbed them. We had some whoopsied salmon taramasalata from dh in london, the scalops with rice with spinach wilted through it and then a good squeeze f lime, a bottle of chablis and then dh also found a slice of whoopsied sachetorte, so a lovely three corse meal. Scallops are such a treat.
Saturday
Middle eastern inspired sheperds pie. Then goats cheese and dried/fresh fruits and honey and nuts.

sunday

Hmm, not sure yet, but this will bring me back into a mon to sun week for the next meal plan!Decided on main meal, it will be one of MY favourites, roast duck salad, with grapefruit and watercress

:D

also have branflakes, cornflakes and oats in to have with fruit n seeds/nuts or toast if there is bread in

    Lunches
Veggie pate in 50/50 bread, carrot sticks or cherry tomatoes, apple or banana or garden blackberries, hm fridge flapjack (talking mini pieces), choc dessert pot. Water.

    Sat: Quick pizza and veg
Sun: Mushroom and blackberry slow cooker stew with mash and greens
Mon: Beer and Chilli Hot Pot and greens
Tue: Vegan omelette, peas and chips
    Wed: Pasta Bolognese
Thu: French Onion Soup with Sheese Chive Dumplings
Fri: Veggie Masala (soya pieces + veg) with rice or flatbreads

    Supper
Girls can have a cup of soya milk, cocoa, tea or Caro. We'll nibble on popcorn or carrots if hungry later on.

Thanks for starting us off, LiR, and I really like your idea of noting how things change. :T

I haven't actually done a plan for this week yet - I'm off on holiday at the end of next week and seem to have slipped into holiday mode already. :o My main food-related task for this week is to use up the veggies in the fridge so they don't get wasted, so let's think:

Friday - was a pizza from the supermarket deli counter - I was out at a work event all day and really wanted a takeaway but decided a supermarket one would be cheaper :money:
Saturday - cheese and ham croquettes (not HM) with salad
Sunday - pork schnitzel (sp?) from the butcher with veg in cheese sauce
Monday - [STRIKE]spiced steak and butternut squash wraps[/STRIKE] change of plan because I can't find the steak in the freezer :o - it'll be something breaded that I think is a chicken kiev, with spiced butternut squash wedges and baked beans
Tuesday - possibly veggie burger with chips and salad?
    Wednesday - don't know yet - I'll update when I decide
Thursday to Monday - holiday! :j
Back after a very long break!

Meal plan train wreck last week. Trying harder this week. Also having difficulty with breakfasts - I usually try to have fruit in and just eat that, but now have two boys in the house (BF + roommie) and they inhale it in no time!

BlueGreen - do you have a rolls recipe you could share? I dont have a mixer or a bread machine.

Ohh CCP where are you going? I love hols need to take one soon :(

    Anyway, this week:

Tonight: Shakshouka and baking some banana bread (new for me) for brekkies
Sunday: Veg frittata and homemade oven chips. If I have energy will attempt rolls as well.
Monday: HM rolls (new this week) with carrot and lentil soup from freezer
Tuesday: new roommie coming so maybe go out to welcome her, otherwise leftovers
    Wednesday: fritatta leftovers
    Thursday: veg chili from freezer

    Happy eating everyone.

Ohh CCP where are you going? I love hols need to take one soon :(

I'm going to Birmingham - I went there earlier in the year for a work conference and really liked the city, so decided to use up a free train ticket by going back. I just hope the weather's better than the forecast indicates it'll be. :undecided
Back after a very long break!
  • My dinners are as follows:

    Friday:
    Veggie Laksa

    Saturday:
Meat free burgers in buns with stilton and mushrooms

    Sunday:
avocado, salsa and cream cheese pasties

    Monday:
    Broccoli and cheddar chowder

    Tuesday:
ricotta filled pasta with hm tomato sauce

    Wednesday:
    Pizza

    Thursday:
Quorn fillets with peppers and sweet potatoes in Reggae Reggae sauce with rice.
  • Well, last week was a total disaster on the meal planning front-WAY too hectic at work, meant all I was good for when I got in was eating the takeaway OH had ordered (and paid for :D )

So-determined this week will be better!
    Sun-Kleftiko, spinach and carrots.
Mo-pea, mint and green bean risotto, with some lamb if any left over
Tu-pasta (possibly bake) with roasted tomato sauce, garlic bread and salad
We-pesto trout, baked mushrooms, roasted tomatoes and new spuds
Th-lemon sole, new spuds, green beans, carrots.
Fr-I'm out, OH will have pasta and beef ragu
Sa-BBQ burgers, wedges, corn on the cob
Su-Roast chicken & all the bits.

I'm hoping as the things on work nights are nice and easy we will manage to stick to it. you never know!
