And here is another problem ... his son is an architect and drew the plans up for him, so he hasn't actually had to pay anything. The planning permission has been granted also.
Even better - have the son invoice you for the plans. And swallow the added VAT as a bitter pill. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

  • The plans are the copyright of the architect (son) who drew them.

All you would be buying from the parents would be a piece of pretty paper to frame and hang on the wall.

If you want to buy the right to build from the plans then you need to deal with the son, and get a properly invoiced transaction through the architect firm's books. That way you will be covered by the architect's professional indemnity insurance in case he's missed something crucial out and the house collapses after it's built.

Full architect's plans are likely to cost thousands rather than hundreds, so don't buy them if it's likely you wouldn't want to build what he's designed.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.

It's really pretty easy. Below each person's post there is a button marked "thanks".

If you like/appreciate what the person has written in their post, you just click the button!
  • Get them free from the local authoritie's website - planning permissions and plans are freely available for all recent permissions.
