Experian Score :(

in Credit cards
Hi Guys,
I've been following advice on here (you know who you are guys, thank you
) and have dramatically reduced my balances from over £19k to about £7k in this last year.
This will drop to around £3500 by the weekend once a PPI cheque clears.
I've been going through my Experian file and my new ''score'' is now 469. Now I know I shouldn't place any faith in this score, but it is the closest thing that I know of that shows how I am doing.
I've copied the info below from them. How does this look to you guys? Is there something more I should/could be doing??
Bear in mind, all my credit card companies have increased my limits in the last 3-4 months, one by quite a considerable amount.
I had applied for a couple of credit cards to see about doing a BT, but got refused, so I'll stay pit just now
Number oftimes your credit report has been searched in the past 3 months 20
Number oftimes your credit report has been searched in the past year 34
Number ofpublic information records on your report 0
Number ofNotices of Correction on your credit report 1
Number ofaliases (other names) and/or financial associations recorded 7 (Last one in 2010 by my ex after we had split up, but it still shows on my file)
Length oftime you have lived at your current address 0 years 4 months. (Not technically true, we moved in November last year, but only recently registered on Electoral Roll)
Are youregistered on the electoral roll at your current address Yes
Any thoughts guys??

Ok, 20 searches in the last 3 months is going to be a major issue for most potential creditors. The rule of thumb is no more than three in a rolling 6 months.
You say you have an outstanding balance of £7k at the moment, what is the total available reported credit?
What is the highest limit on a single card?
What state is your current account(s) being reported as each month in relation to any authorised or unauthorised overdrafts?
If you no longer have any shared products with the ex then file a notice of disassociation to remove them from the picture.
How many unsettled agreements/ accounts do you have?0 -

Hi,
Here is the first part copied
Number ofcredit accounts (including those settled) 20
Amount ofavailable credit (excluding mortgages) £6,419
% of yourtotal credit being used (excluding mortgages) 58%
Number ofaccounts overdue 0
Number ofmissed or late repayments in the last year 0
I have an O/D facility, but never use it.
Highest limit on a single card is £6800, but increasing to £8900 next month, £3500 owed, but will be zero by the weekend.
The others are £3600, zero owed, and £4800, £3500 owed.
I won't be applying for anything until next year when we may replace our car.
How does that sound?

You should go over the "number of times your credit report has been searched in the last year" and see how many are actual hard searches. On my report, it's showing as 35 searches but on checking them, only 6 are actual credit applications. Most are searches by experian themselves and there a quite a few "audits" and such that wont be seen by potential lenders.0

Looks like a lot of insurance checks, 6 cc checks, at least 3 generic checks (eh??) and one from the National Lottery (one day
)
Does that make sense??

Have you been using comparison sites to look for insurance? Some of those guys will do a credit check even if you are just browsing and dont actually go for any of the deals. Generic checks sound like a search done by experian themselves when they update your report.0

The generic checks were carried out by Lloyds, don't know why. Only dealings I've had with them lately is a PPI claim, and the Co Op bank, I've just opened an account with them

I've got one from Camelot for the lottery, just to confirm my address I reckon, but it is in the unrecorded searches section of my Experian report.0

Just a thought, is it possible that most of these searches aren't actually seen by potential creditors, seeing as they are ''generic'' and unrecorded enquiries?Life is now good

Only you can tell, have a look at your online report, it'll tell you which are soft searches and which are 'full fat'0
