there are non profit organisations that collect old mobiles so they can be given to elderlies as alert system.

I would say you have the Samsung Steel, 4-5 years old, but worthless for the recycling crowd. If you could confirm what handset you have, assuming it is in good condition, then people could more helpful.0

You could always try eBay...quite a few times I've got reasonable money for quite an old and battered handset, although that was before the recycle companies had become so prominent.0

You could offer it on freegle, or else keep it as a spare, with a PAYG SIM in it.0
