Door to garden

Hi,
If you were buying a house and the back door had a letter box on it, would it put you off?
I'm looking at second hand doors on eBay and there are plenty with letter boxes...
Not ideal, but if I can save £100 I'm thinking it may be worth it, but wanted to get an idea of what other people thought
Is it something you'd even notice?

No, it wouldn't put me off. What it would do is concentrate my mind on what else the vendor may have skimped on. Things that might have a bit more to do with the structural integrity than a mere back door.0

front doors are just as safe as back doors, if not safer..
but thanks for ur comment

My back door has a letter box, as does my front door. Not sure why that would be an issue for anyone??Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.

it's just coz my back door only leads to the garden, there's no access from the road, so there's no need for a letter box0 -

The postman might get confused. As could pets that await the postman. You could expect twice as much junkmail.
More seriously ive been looking at back doors recently and have always found back ones cheaper (they dont have a letter box, its cheaper!) Are you looking second hand.
At b&q they have a half glazed backdoor (no letterbox) pvc for about £160. What type of door are you after if its going to involve saving £100?
With reference to your actual question, i agree with bitterandtwisted and would think youmightve scrimped elsewhere, were unlikely to do a 'proper job' (said like d ick strawbridge) and would check absolutely everything and everywhere!0 -
I would notice it, but it would not put me off a house. It would probably make for a good topical discussion, but that's about it.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

yes looking 2nd hand and i need the frame as well as the door and the wider one approx 900mm wide
so new is about £230 cheapest
second hand from about £25 on eBay good condition, but there are not many that are within reasonable distance that don't have letterboxes0 -

Have lived in this house for 7 years and it's never happened. Even the takeaway menu and charity bag delivery people haven't made that mistake (and they tend to think my front lawn is a footpath ).Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.

The postman never used to put any post through the front door of my daughter's house in Sheffield - down the ginnel and deliver to the four back doors accessible from the end of the ginnel - along road and down next ginnel. Front doors rarely used.RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0 -
