water meter how much roughly a month does the average family pay

hi all, im in need of some advice please, we moved to a new address last july but we have a water meter, now the last person who lived here was a 104 year old woman who couldnt move about too much so didnt use much water at all, we got in touch with the water company who estimated usage at £2 a month which would be lovely but seeing as we are a family of 4 i dont think this will be right so i set up a direct debit for £30 per month but i really have no idea of what i should be paying and have no further letters or bills, how often do you get bilss from water companys and what should i be paying monthly, i dont want to get to the end of the year and owe them lots of money so any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Bills are every six months,Mirror, and you can check your own usage, say over a week then x 52.
You can get your local prices off the web.

Anglia area have a SOLO rate for low users. A higher cubic metre charge but no standing charge, AND if you can prove that no surface water is entering the system you will get a reduction, but others regulars know more about the details of this.

Just make sure if you get a meter that you check your meter every week in case you have a leak, just go tmy bill for 90 days....£485, have a leak between the meter and the house, my responsibility and I have to pay....havent a clue how much its going to cost and South West water werent reallyinterested except get a plumber out to look at it.
