Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 5th September. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in,put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, soplease don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Packups made, fish fed, breakfast eaten & I'm off to work soon, lets hope it's a bit calmer today. The students are back today so that's a vain hope!
Hubby finished at 10 last night & was worn out by the time we got home.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Didn't get much sleep again last night, I am averaging 4 hours a night, which isn't good. I really should go to see the doctor, but I don't want to with all my other ills, I feel like I am being a nuisance :(
My neighbour brought me a carrier bag of plums round last night and they are so sweet :D We all ate quite a few, and I still have lots left. No fruit to buy this weekend now, which will save a few pennies.
DH has gone to work and I am just looking for some washing to do.

  • Morning all, blooming warm already here in north Kent, all of the tribe are back at school today so I may be able to catch up on some overdue housework, but then again as the suns shining I may just take myself off to the park for a stroll (keeps me away from the shops at least so money saving :):))
I have a long list of to-do things but as the sun doesn't hang around for too long they may be put on the back burner.I think a flask and a stroll around the local country park would do me far more good than getting all hot and bothered ironing or dusting.
I am a dreadful prevaricator at times I just think the sun should be enjoyed whilst its here .Have a good day everyone what ever you are doing

    Morning all,

Did not sleep well, it was so hot, bit cooler this morning but meant to warm up later.

Off to work for me after 2 weeks off, the first day is always the worst, got to drop the dog at my mums and dd at work first.

Something with sausages tonight, might do some wedges for a change and sweetcorn.

Will do a wash tonight, meant to be nice weather for a few days.

Meanmarie, thanks for asking about my dad, he went through a very bad stage, where they had put him on a new tablet, which made him really sick and unresponsive, we had a bit of a fight with his consultant, but they eventually stopped it, and he is more like his old self again, yesterday he ate 2 dinners a pudding and a banana :D

    Have good days all xx

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Bright blue sky not a cloud in sight, forecast says sunshine all day, kids back to school - typical! DH up and off to work stupid early. Washing out on the line.

Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket, beans/veg. Hairdresser came and cut DH's, DS1 and DS2's hair, so all tidy for the return to school.

Work was again busy, not quite so bad as manic Monday but still very busy - only got half a day to do today, working until lunchtime, have all the normal chores etc to work my way through! Remembered to get the pork chops out of the freezer last night so dinner tonight will be pork chops with mash and veg, LO cauli/brocc cheese.

It's my mum's bday tomorrow so will be going to see her once the boys home, as the weather is nice they're likely to go off out for the day so will catch her today so she has her prezzie for tomorrow.

Have a good day, stay safe and well x

RR - Glad your dad has his appetite back.
BBrain - You should go back to the doctor, that's what they are there for!
JackieO - The park would win everytime with me!

Good luck to all the school/college/uni folk, hope all goes well. We have been back at school for nearly 4 weeks here so back into the swing of things and looking forward to a holiday!

After work yesterday I took a few bags to the charity shop and some other stuff to the tip. Then cut the grass, it's the first day it's been dry enough for a couple of weeks. No other work last night so had a chill and watched tv. Put the washing out at half 3 and it was dry by half 5 it was so windy.

Rain today so the throw i washed will go on the airer, chicken something for tea, had sad veg korma last night and it was yummy!

Middle of the week so by the time tonight comes we will have got half way to the weekend. Take care. XX

    Morning all:j:j

    Chilly here this morning,

Well Autumn is on the way  some of the leaves on the trees have started to change colour on the edge's:eek:

Well Im 24hrs times the twins will be all grown up and on there way to school:eek: Only half a day for them tomorrow, They don't have to go on Friday. Monday and Tuesday will also both be half days for them and then Wednesday next week will be there first full day. Full days after that. The half day are meant to help them settle In. The school has spilt the class's In half so they will start Off In smaller groups and then Mix in the larger group Next Wednesday, The twins are In different class's But On a afternoon the two class's do mix with each other so they will still get to see each other a bit. They are quite interdependent from each other anyway and they have both always mixed with other kids well.

Today the four of us are off to my wife's nan's house. There are a couple of little Jobs see needs us to do.
We also need to get a small amount of shopping,
Final sorting out of things for the girls tomorrow needs to be done too.

Well Have a great day all

    Enjoy:j:j
:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j

Morning All, Hope all is well with you.

Good luck for today Hester, the kids are not in until tomorrow here so i have one more day of relative peace and quiet (or would have if the teachers didn't keep giving me last minute jobs LOL)

So my day will be taken up checking all the facilities are ready for the onslaught. 300 new pairs of shoes, destroying the the hall floor that took three days to clean and polish, within 10 minutes.

Halight, Our reception children start next week. They are great, so keen and excited it is infectious.
    take care all
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow.. :p

haligjt aww hopefully you wont miss them too much

Sistercas I hope so too but I wouldn't hold your breath. Sorry im feeling very cynical today. I've been reading the boards more lately and appear to be completely out of touch. I just can't believe how so many hard working people a re struggling desperately yet for many others buying an:j iPad for a six year old is totally normal and life is rosy.

Hmph morning all im on my way to work and feeling a right miserable cow. Being so bloody tired definitely contributes to my foul demeanor this morning. No os on weekdays anymore so nothing fun today though I do habe some ebay items ending Dtonight with lots of bids :j my train is quiet but feels busy as y section is

packed cause people are top bloody selfish to take their craps off tables and seats to let others sit down. Don't know how they have the cheek maybe im just too nice :rotfl:
Living cheap in central London :rotfl:
