I can see her point of view.

Yeah, she was really concerned. Both me and my daughter suffer with asthma and the house was covered in black mould. In the end we left the place with rubbish piled up in the back yard and bin bags all over the floor as despite several arguments I knew I had a rats chance in hell of getting my bond back. (We were there for years so pre-protected bond days)

    Want to hear some corkers?

Rental Agency: "It doesn't matter if we didn't give you an inventory. We wrote one out and filed it, you don't have to have signed it too"

RA: "The damp is caused by condensation. Open the windrows more"
Me: "I always have this bedroom window open except when I'm away overnight"
RA: "Close the window. Open windows cause condensation"

RA: "Our independent surveyer has just proven that this house is not damp"
Me: "He's not independent. He's employed by you. He's carrying your ID"
    RA: "That's irrelevant"

Me: "Every single tenant in this run of houses has complained to you about the mould"
RA: "No they haven't" (this was a blatant lie as I spoke to every tenant on the block)

At least this deposit on the new house is in a protected deposit scheme, and I have a signed inventory, with photos.

And the only mould is a slight bit in the weird little shoddily built conservatory. I can live with that

  • Oh, and I was given a bottle of wine today as a thank you for pet sitting :)

So my (paying for) alcohol free 18 months is going rather well! When the half a bottle of whiskey turns up I'll be sorted for ages (I'm a right lightweight, me)
    Nostrovia!!

  • Pootled about M&S yesterday as daughter needed some vest tops (within clothing budget and with plenty of spare budget left, yay!) so had a look at what I could spend my birthday £25 voucher on from Mum plus the remainder of the Christmas voucher (£18) that I'd forgotten about!

Spotted a new winter dressing gown
I'm holding off as I desperately want one with a hood to snuggle up with and they don't have their full load of winter gowns yet, but I'll treaty self to a new one soon :) Mine is white (!) (seriously, me? White? It's CONSTANTLY in the wash) and covered in cigarette burns from clumsy mornings pre-giving up days.

If I've got any pennies left l'll see about getting some pyjamas; mine are all knackered

  • Day off today

At home day (tidying, cleaning, and cleaning out a hamster or two) and tesco shop. Driving lesson is on Sunday morning, so that leaves Saturday for the welsh caves. If the weather is too foul I'll use my other cinema vouchers to see another free film instead :)

  • Done the week'a shop; £27.88! and that includes....

A tub of hazelnut gelato and a tub of choc/vanilla ice cream.
Also, got a £3.30 off next shop voucher. !!!!!!ed if I know how but I'm not complaining :)

So that's covered the £15 overspend from last week :)

    That's not helpful...

I've had a rental agency lie into my face as well. They were part of an Estate Agency, so I've avoided any business dealings with the EA as well, and advised others to do likewise.

Good. If only other industries would be cleaned up like that.

    What kind was it? Fleece?

I bought a new cotton one, it wasn't cheap, and it's coming apart already. It is sooo difficult to get quality stuff.

I don't blame you! Round here, it's difficult to find anywhere that isn't part of an EA, so there's little option. This lot aren't great with repairs but they seem legal, and they leave me alone (I had to endure quarterly house inspections with the last lot where I got snottily told to 'mop the kitchen floor better'.) and they do pull their finger out for emergency repairs.

    Tell me about it....

Oh that is a pain! Are you any good at repairs?
M&S had some really pretty cotton ones too... I was thinking about buying one for next summer. This one was fleece, but I'm holding off until I find a hooded one otherwise I'll end up just wearing a hoody underneath it!

  • I think I may be getting a cold. Luckily, meal plan tonight is soup, and daughter is now blending, batch packing it for the freezer, and cooking the chips :) bless her. I feel like !!!!!. I'll take her swimming tonight, but I'll sit in the cafe with a book and a flask until she's done :) previous plan was to leave her there while I coffee with friends but I'm miserable when I'm ill so I'll not inflict that on my mates :(

Nope. I am good at standing around in it and ignoring the fact that the seams are coming undone and it's leaving copious amounts of red fluff everywhere.

I did think of buying a sewing machine (not just for this) but everyone I've mentioned it to, laughs and thinks I'll do myself an injury...

I LOVE slankets!!!! I have a massive blanket I snuggle under, and that has to do me until I can upgrade to a proper slanket :)
