  • Have added a DFD to my signature, the accuracy of which really does remain to be seen. I'm ignoring interest, on the basis that 1) I can't be bothered to work it out, 2) my income fluctuates wildly so it's not that accurate anyway, 3) I'll recalculate each month with each new set of figures so interest will be factored in monthly if not all at once, 4) I can't be bothered to work it out.

Not being bothered was definitely worthwhile saying twice.

  • Saved money by flute teacher cancelling, saved money by not getting takeaway on way home (technically free, but that will be used on another day now so I'm counting that as money saved), spent money on pizza from Tesco as only had one in the freezer for daughter, spent money on bottle of Lambrini, tempted to just pour it inot a jug as I don't think it really warrants the honour of being served in wine glass, but it adds a certain touch of class to fizzy alcoholic squash!
One daughter not terribly happy at missing flute, but them's the breaks, teacher was ill, can't be helped.

  • Well, I spent the saved flute lesson money on a takeaway :o as I was, quite frankly, knackered, after visit from Mum yesterday.
I did manage to save her £60 a year though by uninstalling Norton on her laptop and installing MSE instead (I could not believe how much N was ripping her off yearly to automatically update her virus definitions, b****y bordelinge criminal, the whole thing is desgined to take advantage of people like her who don't know how to do anything else and find automatice stuff easier. )

We are having a very funny morning now. My daughter has caught the ebay/saving bug, and is doing a shed loads of maths to work out what she has to sell and how long she has to save before she can buy a netbook and an iPad! :TShe's adding in Christmas money, pocket money, is already asking me to put her barely used portable DVD player on ebay, is about to go through her CDs for music magpie, and is seriously considering selling her Nintendo DS too. I'm quite impressed, to be honest, she's being very independent with her money and actively choosing to sell and save to get what she wants. :)

Downside: she has asked how much she would get if she sold me

  • Not that it can be helped, but the september money leakage situation is continuing... My daughter got home from school yesterday with a very swollen and possibly broken finger after trapping it in a door as the home-time bell went, so we ended up spending the evening at casualty, I cancelled one student outright and rescheduled another and spend £15 on taxi and £5 on drinks/crisps for hospital wait and takeaway chips when we got back as it was far too late to cook.
Luckily the finger is still painful and swollen but not broken :) I'm seriously trying to work out how soon I can get myself a car as public transport/taxis are costing me an absolute fortune, and even with my calculations I'm convinced a car is going to be cheaper.

I'm still keeping optimistic, you're right about there still being 2 weeks left, and that's 2 weeks of earning left too, phew!

I've just this second finished writing a typed draft of a job application letter (finished the CV earlier this morning) for a speculative job opportunity - posh privtate school is expanding and I'm making every effort to make my presence felt :p They don't actually need piano teachers, but it never hurts to nag these people as the day they do I'll be at the top of their memory pile :)

    Hi Chopin,

I am really enjoying your diary, you have a lovely sense of humour, I particularly love the references to the parenthesis, I have been known to over use them in my time.
:) Been here for a long time and don't often post

    Thank you, you're very kind!
I'm now so conscious of my overused of paranthesis that I deliberately used none in my CV and my friend/spellchecker added a load.... :o

  • Have just got back from the P.Off, having spent an extortionate £7.99 on printer paper (!!!!!) on printer paper, as apparently, my £2.48 rubbish from Tesco doesn't cut it for CVs, I need that proper shiny sh*t...

I now have to handwrite a letter to the headmaster. I'd be better off getting the rabbits to write it. At least they're consistent....

Changing theoretical monthly repayment figure again.
One day I'll get this munchkin right.
DFD doesn't change, my division is fine, I just typed in the repayment amount after I'd paid the monthly barclaycard bill instead of including it. Twit.

Edit: DFD does change, I worked that out wrong too. And i do my own accounts. This is frightening.
