"Ours is a small team for this size of forum and we receive so many emails every day we use an automated system to keep things organised. We feel you would rather we spend our time dealing with reports than answering them so we only reply if we have a question. If you received this automated reply then your email has been received and will be looked at."
Emphasis on this part:
"Ours is a small team for this size of forum"
So increase the size of your team then.

You seemed to have missed the fact that this forum has no moderators at all, they do have a team that deals with reported posts (among other things)0

The whole moderation thing is a red herring to try to minimise legal liability, but the fact is that there is a Forum Team and this should be proportionate in size to that of the forum. Whether it is or not, who knows ...0 -

An automated response is sent immediately and action is taken if required by a member of the team depending on the urgency of the report, the OP was quibbling about the wording of the response and I am quibbling about the wording of her/his post, what's the difference?0 -
It is a bit bizarre having a message that basically says "we are understaffed". And why make a point of saying saying there is a system to deal with issues? - how is this remarkable? Better to say "your message has been received" and leave it at that.0

I've always found that reported posts are quickly removed. What makes you think the team needs to be bigger ?0
