Value instant coffee - any good ones?

Hate cheap coffee, if it's a good friend i would say she's probably worth buying the decent stuff for. You can quite often pick up carte noir or gold blend on a reasonable offer. I'd be a bit upset if my best mate suddenly started giving me rubbish coffee....Smokefree since 27-9-20070

Tesco Gold Blend is a good alternative to Nescafe.
I usually just keep an eye out for what's on offer. Actually, just got Douwe Egberts last week, the huge jar, for half price in TescosWealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
I agree with Tesco Gold Blend. It is a really nice coffee for when I am being too frugal for Carte Noire.Total Debt Feb 2012 [STRIKE]£12,153[/STRIKE] 10674 16.5% Paid

Tesco gold blend is nice and I tend to buy it if Nescafe gold blend isn't on offer (though may just give in and save myself some money and only buy Tesco as I've had no complaints from the OH yet).0

It's a little expensive but Carte Noire Instinct is just like drinking the real thing. :j:j:j
Other than that Morrisons own is very nice0 -
Hubby drinks gallons of coffee too, and we buy Tesco's own brand, the standard one with a red lid - I have to say I don't drink coffee often and when I do I like a bold but not bitter coffee, and I like it.
We tried both Asda & Morrisons own and I didn't like either of them, hubby didn't rate them either.A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -

How about sending off for the freebies that are on occassionally (e.g. kenco millicano etc) - it won't do for all of the time, but better than nothingI'd be a bit upset if my best mate suddenly started giving me rubbish coffee....kitschkitty wrote: »I'd be a bit upset if my best mate judged me on what coffee I could afford to buy for them (especially if I had tried my best to find a half decent alternative).
I don't think they'd be upset or judge me if I gave them dishwater coffee, (I hope:)) but my own pride won't let me do it - after all, they only buy PG for me!
Thank you all so much for your replies! And thanks viv0147 for the Lidl tip - unfortunately I don't have a Lidl close to me. Anyone tried Aldi's coffee?! Otherwise, it looks like finding a good un on special, or Tesco Gold then?!0 -
I don't know if the offer has expired now, but on Friday my mum made me go to Morrisons with her as they had Nescafe on offer at £4 for I think it was 300g (might have been the 200g + 50% extra free jars) and it was only 3 jars per person.
Hopefully someone will know if the offers still on.A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -
