Get them chipped!!

I can feel the microchip on Macius the skinny matchstick legs rat of a cat I have.. my youngest one...
All my cats were chipped while being neutered though, at 6 months - I did not want to hurt them with the big needle while awake..
BUT - none of them went out before they had the chips in...and been neutered...0 -

They usually leave the chip unregistered or use the new owner's details :-)0

First post on the Forum, long time reader, but now venturing on to the boards. You all seem jolly nice on here though.
I even had my tortoise microchipped. Worth it for peace of mind. He may not run off but he could get stolen.0 -
Definitely microchip house cats, have read stories of them getting spooked and escaping, due to an emergency plumber or burglar for example.
I chipped Lulu despite there being three fire doors between my flat and outside, I don't want her to be a stray again or be PTS because rescues are full to bursting. She was under 4kg when she was done, far more upset about having her ears looked at (nasty mite infestation) than the chip! Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

We think this is how we got our last cat, Milly. She was found outside cowering up against a wall and seemed like she had no idea what was going on around her, so she was believed to be a house cat who had escaped. She was our first foster cat, we ended up falling in love with her and kept her.
All ours are house cats and all are chipped as you just never know.0 -

Funnily enough there was a thing on the local radio today saying that the number of stray dogs has gone down a little.
They then had a soundbite from a woman from the RSPCA about how to make sure your pet doesn't get lost...but all she mentioned was getting your dog trained (which I agree with) as lots of dogs run away and the owners can't call them back.
But I was really disappointed as I feel this would have been an ideal opportunity to say to get your pets chipped so that if the worst comes to the worst, at least you could be reunited if your pet was picked up.
Lost a golden opportunity there:(0 -
Micro-chips were not really available when my oldies were kittens, but I was determined to get the youngsters done as soon as possible. So I got them all chipped at same time as first vaccinations....I do have to admit to baulking when I saw the size of the HARPOON that the vet got out to do the chipping and each time the vets said they normally wait till neutering, but it was over in seconds and the cats did not seem to find it too terrible.0
