I have a 3 sim zero since 2010 on a 30 day rolling contract, all I used it for was data, but I have not used it for months , so called them to cancel , after the usual speel about some great offers, they decided to remove the monthly charge, however I was charged again, I called this month to ensure the DD was not applicable and they said no as the bill is £0, however as to be sure I have cancelled the DD, should I have done this even though the sim is active but I am unlikely to ever use it?

Would have been safer to keep the direct debit till you were 100% sure they had removed the monthly charge - usually by calling them twice and/or getting email confirmation.

    Just sweat a bit ...

When I called them in June the final bill should have been July so I was surprised when they deducted £5.11 from my account in August

    Sorry, I'm confused.

I thought 'sim zero' cost ... erm ... zero undecided.gif

Why do you need to cancel something that costs nothing???

Nothing is free forever, and your discount could have been temporary. You've been on hear long enough to know that when a DD fails, instead of asking you nicely to pay, they mark your credit file. It is much easier to chase them for a rebate of a payment taken in error, than try to repair a credit file they say was in default.

Sim zero is £0 , but you get zero allowance, you buy the bundles in my case it was 2gb for £5.11, but as said it was never getting used , any of it.
