Well I've got a postman friend and he gets sheets of stamps from work at christmas and bonuses... He flogs them on eBay...

Can't guarantee how genuine anything is on eBay though...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...

  • Dont know if you have all read every post to this thread(Im only on page 66 taken me months!!) but there is a post on there that offer free invited, etc...

Vista Print (google for website) offer 250 free buisness cards, you just have to pay postage (but think you can find a promotional code for free delivery!).

I might use this for save the date cards as there are limited design options but there is a lovely red rose, all you need to do is imput your details in where your address should go. Tried it out and looks very effective but cant order mine yet as i have not booked the date yet!!!

    Hope this helps someone!

I think I have found a way of making some possible savings...

Look at the registry office prices of neighbouring councils, they may be cheaper and you may be able to find a great venue in that area.

For example, in my city the registrar charges £200 for a registry office ceremony with a room big enough for 50, and charges £425 to attend a venue.

The venue I think we are going to go for falls under the neighbouring council, who's registrar charges £90 for registry office ceremony, and £230 to attend a venue.

Quite a difference!! Think we're going to do it all at the same venue, but if we did want to use the registry office in the neighbouring county it's in a lovely stately home type place which has a big water lily collection.

Someone may have suggested this already, but I'm only up to page 50 something so thought I'd mention it!!

Bought my dress in a charity shop, cost £300 but tag on it still for £1800 :):):)

Re winter garden wedding, have you thought about an indoor/conservatory style garden.Have a look at the eden project as well as the glasgow peoples palace and winter gardens. There will likely be something similar in your area.

I'm after some advice/opinions on evening receptions...

We have booked our wedding and will be having the same day in one place (a lovely new golf club in the countryside with wooden lodges to stay over in) and are going to have 70 people for the day and 130-140 for the evening.

As the budget is tight, we are trying to decide what to do on food. The plan is 3 course meal or hot buffet late afternoon for the 70, but then I am unsure what to do in the evening.

To be honest I would rather spend the money on the 70 close friends and family that will be there in the day, pay for the full 3 course meal and have nothing in the evening.

What does everyone think about having no buffet in the evening? Would evening guests expect it? We have the option of something like bacon sandwiches, but at £5 a head, £700 is a pretty expensive bacon sandwich! We're going to have the cake in the evening I think so that will be something, and probably bowls of sweets here and there.

Just wondering what people's thoughts are, what other people have done, what you expect if you just go to a reception? And for the 70 that are there in the day, we'll be eating about 4, so I'm not expecting to need more food later on, I just hope people won't all get hungry...

Thanks guys I would appreciate your advice!! :D

Sorry but I don't think you can get away without some sort of food in the evening.

If the day guests are eating at 4pm then they are going to be hungry again especially if you have any children attending.

Most venues will let you only cater for a percentage of the evening guests.

What are you going to do if you get hungry? I'm sure I won't be able to eat much breakfast on the day and might not eat much at the sit down. I'm sure to be hungry some time in the evening though.
