My daughter bought her wedding dress for £200 off ebay. It was made to her measurements and it is absolutely stunning. Would cost £1,000 in shops

For butterflies, Lakeland (I love that shop) have butterfly hairclips and stickers. Not exactly what you were thinking of, but hairclips for your bridesmaids? Stickers for your invitations/front of the envelope. A bit fiddly, but it will set the theme off nicely.

One thing I really love for favours are these little galvanised pails filled with sweets - or anything else for that matter.

    http://www.ikea.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=7&langId=-20&catalogId=10101&productId=41226

They're only 60p each from Ikea!!

My biggest price problem is the venue - I want it to be special, but about £4K is the cheapest price we've been given. Maybe I could haggle as it will be a Wednesday wedding!

Hello, congrats on your forthcoming wedding! :D

    £4k sounds horrendous! :-/

Have you considered any places that aren't regular wedding venues? For example we're having our reception in a Manor House type place that is now a residential college, and you could try restaurants, bars, church halls, a marquee in your garden, or a friend's garden.

And definitely haggle for a mid-week discount!

    Good luck! :D

    Hi!
Butterflies are the theme for the Association of Children's Hospice week held every year in September. They sell beautiful little butterfly broaches which shimmer and come in different colours.
Contact you local Children's Hospice - great favours and a real feel-good factor too. Also, very reasonably priced.

    Hiya

What is the name of your venue? I don't really know where to start looking for places that aren't wedding venues but are if you get what I mean?

The cheapest estimate that I've got for the whole thign including honeymoon comes to £8K, so under the UK average but still way too much!!

    Any help greatly received!

    Hi there!
    All great ideas everyone! :)
I really like the idea of the childrens hospice week badges too....! Do you know how much they cost? I tried emailing them, but the lady who deals with the enquiries is off at the moment.

Lakeland have got a summer sale on at the moment with a lot of craft stuff in it, including a "make your own wedding invitations" kit, and a butterfly paper press (cuts out butterfly shapes in paper) for whoever it was had the butterfly theme going on.

    Hi people!
Just thought I'd post this, as I think this could save quite a lot of people some money on their weddings! Especially if you like doing arts and crafts bits!
This is a post on another website about Tiara making, which gives you a really good step by step guide for a simple tiara, and obviously you can adapt it to what you want for your wedding!
I'm making the tiaras for my three bridesmaids, and if they turn out really well, then I may even make mine too!

Oh, and this is a really good site to get beads and stuff to make them....

    http://www.julesgems.com

I think it comes to a total of about £10 to make two tiaras.... can't go wrong really!
    Hope this helps someone! :)
