I was dismissed from my job 4 months ago because of misconduct (Argument with work college & found it so hard to get a job since) i then claimed jsa which has been paid to me ever since during this period of me losing my job i have become £6,000 in debt & have ended up homeless then 2 weeks ago i recived a letter stating my money will be stopped because of the way my job ended, for 2 weeks i will get nothing & that i could apply for a hardship loan which was rejected then i applied for a crisis loan in which the woman replied im being punished which was also rejected now im not sure what to do i have contacted my personal adviser & job center with no help at all how can i survive for 2 weeks without any money in my suitation even though i am registered homeless,i have worked all my life & paid tax all my life this is the 1st job i have ever been sacked from which was a joke that i got sacked in the 1st place how do these people think im going to feed myself steal ? Any advise would be helpfull

This is the nature of things - if you lose a job in such a manner you can expect a sanction, of up to 26 weeks.
In terms of food, contact your local council, they will be able to direct you to a local food bank.
You can appeal, but it will take longer to be heard than the period of the sanction.0 -
Sorry not much else to add, you can appeal if you feel the decision is wrong.0

i got my recent JSA sanction overturned in 48hours
All i needed to do was prove i was taking employer to ET for unfair dismissal.
They ask for a your side of story and i was dealing with my granddad death i ignored all post for about a month.
you need to ring the benefit delivery centre for your area (mine was Walsal) and ask for this letter to be sent to you and what address you can appeal to0 -
keep trying to get the to either change their mind and also appeal and try again for a hardship payment.
Email or go see your MP, this does/might help.
Also CAB will have some contacts too, ring or so see them.
I know you may not feel up to it but you really do need to fight them for your money as they do not care you have no food.0 -
if all that fails and you feel depressed etc you can make a claim for ESA, once you have made a claim you can them get a crisis loan straight away as you will then be waiting for payment of that, this might work or not but like I say if all else fails I would do that.0

Is there really not one family member/friend who can help you? I'm sure not otherwise you wouldn't be here to post, but I struggle to understand how people can be so alienated from friends/family that they can't rely on anyone to help them for only 2 weeks.
Sorry OP, I know that won't help, it is just sad. I'm sorry you are finding yourself in this situation. I just hope things will get better for you soon.0 -
Is there no jobs you can get now that pay quickly?
Eg Our local takeaway advertised yesterday for a delivery guy £40 per night (7 - 11), they said they'd pay per shift (I overheard a coversation).
Can you mow lawns, wash cars, ask a business if they need leaflet's delivered etc?0 -
Smash a window down the local copshop, get a bed and meal for the night.
Only joking, this would be extremely irresponsible

The reality here is that you have a series of problems, and getting sanctioned for only two weeks - when the sanction could have been 26 weeks - for losing your employment through misconduct, is actually one of the least of them. It may not feel like that right now, but honestly, but two weeks is really quite lenient.
What is a bigger problem - because it isn't going to go away in two weeks - is having built up £6,000 of debt over four months when you were receiving benefit, and this debt is likely to keep going up. How did you build up so much debt during a period of unemployment? You need to explain this so that people can suggest ways of managing this so that it doesn't get any worse (hopefully).
And how have you ended up homeless? During the period you were receiving benefit you should have been able to claim housing benefit or LHA - and you still qualify for this depsite the JSA sanction. So how have you lost your home in just four months. If we don't understand how this happened, then nobody can tell you what you can do about it.
I'm sorry but working and paying taxes all your life doesn't entitle you to benefits if you get sacked through misconduct, and two weeks sanction doesn't explain £6k of debt and being homeless. So you really need to provide some more information as to how all of this happened if you want people to help you.0 -

it does show though, that we have to feed a murderer or rapist 3 times a day but sanctioning, which is a friendlier way of saying stopping ALL benefits for 2 weeks, is allowed! surely if someone took this to the human rights courts they would win.0
