Brussels, Lille or Amsterdam weekend break in November

I want to surprise my OH and take him away in November
We both work in London so the Eurostar is a good choice forus.
Some options are
Lille or Brussels – leave work a little early and get therefor 8.30/9pm and come back first thing on Monday morning and go straight towork -
Fly from Gatwick and land at 9pm, return on Sun at 8pm –This option costs £60 more than the Eurostar and we don’t get as much timethere
Not sure where to choose….anyone got any thoughts?

I just came back from Amsterdam on Sunday, I loved it!
Great museums, lots to see and do, good food, very friendly people.
I wasn't that keen on Brussels to be honest - a little just didn't quite see what all the fuss was about.
Haven't been to Lille.
It was very cheap to fly to Amsterdam from City Airport if this is handy for you?0 -

Amsterdam all the way.
Brussels and Lille are a bit meh.
But there are plenty of cheap flights to Amsterdam, fast links into the centre from Schipol leaving plenty of time to enjoy yourself.
Great museums, excellent bars and restaurants, superb selection of weed if you're into that kind of thing and even the sex shows are a big hit with the tourists of all ages and sensibilities.0 -
Eurostar every time. Amsterdam great, Brussels good, and as a northerner and Yorkie I still think that Lille is the Sheffield of France!0

Oh how fustrating! I was hoping people would say Brussels or Lille!! Sadly the City airport flights are quite expensive so we would go from Gatwick, its going to be more expensive to go to Amsterdam but everyone at work agrees with you guys too lol:rotfl:And I am really keen on going
Thaks all for your thoughts - If anyone is thinking of going to Lille or Brussels in Nov cost was £118 for 2 (return) I thought that was a bargain!!Recently married and loving it x0 -
How about getting the train to Amsterdam? I've taken Eurostar and DB to Cologne and it was very easy so I would imagine Amsterdam is too.0

I'd say Amsterdam too. I don't know what weekend you're going or whether you can take a half day at work, but if you can, these flights (http://soc.li/A6xs1kO) may be good. Southend is only 40 mins by train, and on the way back there's always https://www.easybus.co.uk0

I am going to throw a spanner in the works and suggest you do get the train to Brussels but then get a connecting train to Brugge, Europe's finest medieval city, just love it every time I go and it will be quiet in November. No weed, no sex shows but a million times better than Lille (which for those who need to know is far, far worse than Sheffield, which is really quite nice!)0

Another vote here for Amsterdam- lots to do for a w/e. Haven't been to Lille so cannot comment.
Bruges is nice...but I still vote for A!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

I bought some nice cheese in Lille once. Can't remember much else about the place. Brussels is okay for a day or so; Amsterdam is best of the bunch.0 -
Lille: Easy to get to. Limited amount to see. Plenty of restaurants to suit all pockets. Good metro. Centre all within easy walking distance. Worth of consideration even if Amsterdam is better!0
