I dont know if there is a chat about this already, I couldnt find one. Have you heard about the morrisons fuel saver?
http://www.morrisonsfuelsaver.co.uk/gift-card-partners

The problem with this is that

  • 1p off for a £10 gift card is hardly earth shattering
  • I (and probably many others) dont have any money to spend at the moment apart from for groceries in the supermarkets (Morrisons for example)
  • there is a very limited number of shops in the list for buying cards for
  • you have to spend a lot of money to get money off your fuel
Give me 10p for every £10 gift card I buy and you might get somewhere Morrisons!!!!!

  • This is more for the whining folk who spend hours banging on about petrol prices and believe that getting 1p off a litre will make their narrow minded lifes better!!

Just put in £85 of diesel just now and got 5p off a litre if i bought 2 cokes....so i saved £3.10 on my diesel by spending £3 on some drinks.....well zip-a-de-do-da!!!

An offer that isn't really an offer...just like every advert in the uk.

The money off things are pretty bizarre with Morrisons (in today and they have began selling Christmas stuff!), but taking a cut of what they charge other stores on commission for gift cards and converting that into 1p off hardly seems worth the effort.

Funny, there was me thinking this was a money saving forum. So those who complain about prices are "whiners" and "narrow minded"? I think the one who is narrow minded is you with your sweeping and offensive generalisation.

    Calm down, calm down!!!

I am all for saving money, but I was referring to the folk who make it their mission in life to moan about the fuel prices and that saving 1p per ltr OR paying 1p per ltr more is a topic for discussion.

To put it in perspective, 10p difference per ltr of fuel equates to 1p per mile, roughly speaking for the normal car. By normal I mean 35-40 mpg vehicle.

If the average Joe does 12,000 miles per year then the 10p per ltr or 1p per mile equates to £120 a year. So a 1p saving per ltr would equate to £12 per year.

Not the sort of topic I would waste my time talking about or whining about to anyone.

Oh no, I just have !!!

The sooner that everyone realizes that by driving less WILL cut the cost of your fuel bill the better. You Can save more by walking to the shops, walking the kids to school or using the car less. Running costs WILL always go up, no matter how many partitions are signed.

So next time anyone else moans about the 1, 2 or 3p per ltr increases, then just remember that for every 1p per ltr raise, you will pay £12 per year extra, there are bigger things to complain about and better money saving things you can do to save more than £12 a year.

Meh -- depends how much you want the cokes.
  • Normally buy a couple for £2 at the supermarket, just high lighting the pointless deal they put up to make you "think" you are getting a really great deal.

Cokes were £2.98 for 2 so spent £0.98 more but saved £3.10 on my diesel, net saving £2.12....again...zip-a-de-do-da....

I think I have more than that in 1 and 2p's in my center console!!

And if you were to save £2.12 every fill up9potentially every week) thats over £100 a year.

this is a Money saving site, sounds like moneysaving to me, maybe they should add a 1p on a litre if you bought 2 cokes, would you be happier then
  • I think the morrisons promo isn't bad, although I hate gift cards.

Get my nan a £30 gift card for Xmas, save 3p / litre which is £1.80. Not bad for free.
