I don't have care or mobility needs.

I've not been to my GP as I get too scared and stopped taking medication when I lost my benefits as cannot afford it.

You would be far better focusing on getting better than trying to claim benefits.

Can you partner not help you with the cost of prescriptions? If they are on a low income you may qualify for help through the NHS "Help with Health Costs" scheme, or if you have several prescriptions you may be better to buy a prepayment certificate.

I didn't think I'd be able to get ESA because of living with my partner. When he moved in with me and my mum, they took my benefits away. I also didn't think they would class me as having a disability now that things seem more strict.

You could still claim ESA if you're unable to work. Even though you won't get a payment, they will be covering your NI contributions. If you cannot work, then you may be able to claim some working tax credits.

And yes, you should look into getting some treatment for your MH problems. And apply for help towards the cost of your prescriptions.

Their partner may be able to claim WTC, assuming they are 25 or over.

If you have no benefits, you should be eligible for free prescriptions.

Go back to your GP and get some help from the job centre as to benefits, NI credits.

    Are you looking for work

Their entitlement to free prescriptions will depend on their partner's income - they will need to apply via the Help with Health Costs scheme.

It sounds like they were on IS or ESA, but as these benefits stopped when their partner moved in that would imply they were income based, so any linking period would only lead to a credits claim.
  • Trouble with signing on to get NI credits is that you also have to sign up to all those stupid and pointless schemes they put people on.

When I said you, I should have said him, I meant you in the plural, as in relationship, I apologise, I should have made that clearer :)
