Just a quick update. My sons options were either to take A levels and go straight into a Quantity Surveying course at Uni at 18. Do one day a week doing a course that would finally lead him into Quantity Surveying (but leaving him 4 days to do what he wants to do - which i said wasnt an option as he'd sit at home doing sod all) or he could do an electrical engineering course which could lead him into a career in its own right and he could further it into Quantity Surveying in Uni.

My son chose the full time electrical engineering course. Despite his Dad trying to put him off, it looks like he is following in his Fathers footsteps.

He stayed on in college to enroll whilst i had a wander round the shops. Boots was my first port of call..... just to calm my nerves you understand. I'm shattered now.

    Hi.

This is supposed to be a day off for me after a couple of weeks of meeting myself coming back. I had it all planned - late start, leisurely breakfast, potter round the garden, easy lunch, feet up on sofa, reading.

This turned into being woken up at intervals during the night by fog horns, getting up still tired and frazzled, eating a bowl of cereal standing up, answering the phone (too many people wanting to recoup PPIs on non-existent loans) and a scattering of confused elderly people, one of whom demanded crossly how I'd got her number! Entertained my DIL2B, cooked lunch, made bread and here I am feeling ever-so-slightly twitchy. So much for a day off.

HH: MH says only 7 weeks to half term. I say only 15 weeks till the Christmas holidays. Doesn't that make you feel bitter - I mean better.

The Rev called into Mr T's this morning and found that our favourite Peppermint tea is being sold for £1. She bought all the boxes out on the shelf and we are planning to go again this week to see if we can snaffle a few more.

Just got home from work, stayed an extra half an hour to dig a hole in the chaos.
Only one out of my 3 machines are working, the others have been taken off the network, I have no access to email as my ID is classed as rude, no idea what country it's rude in, lol.
My room has been full of screaming staff, who want everything YESTERDAY & I can do nothing but smile & shrug.
    Heyho, tomorrow is another day.
    Hugs Hester

Evening all. Sounds manic getting back to school, we had q crazy day at work with all the rejigging of the high ups going on today. Getting increasingly hacked off with being dumped with yet more mystery work - literally being given a. Spreadsheet of numbers and told to do the same again for this year with not even a vague suggestion of what they even are. I'm jusya looking forward to getting home eating dinner and going to bed.

    Evening everyone

Feeling really tired tonight, these extra working hours are now adding up, not sure that I am gaining anything, apart from being told off nearly everyday only been there 2 weeks. DS1 went back up north to visit his friends yesterday and has arrived back tonight. I am finding it quite stressful trying to keep the house calm. DS2 taxi for his transport to school didnt turn up this morning, after ringing about 7 times someone finally turned up at 10.20, I was so stressed.

os today breakfasts made, dw emptied, dinner made, still got some ironing to do for tomorrow and check that ds2 bag is ready.

I have read through the thread so here goes.

Elona - hope your dd is okay
Flutterby - the mri scan sounds horrible, hope they find out what is causing your vertigo.
HH - Your workload sounds a complete nightmare.
LW - Hope your pain eases up and you manage a good nights sleep.

Sorry If I have missed anyone. Hugs to anyone that needs/wants one. Take Care.

    Evening all,
Sounds like some of you are having a hectic time with work and school hope things settle down.
Fb I know exactly how you feel, they are awful, glad its done and dusted for you and you don't need another one.
Today's main achievement is the flights are booked to Australia. Have gone through one of the budget flight companies but booked with Emirates so should be ok. Got a good deal but now wondering what will go wrong cos it was such a good deal:cool: honestly I am such a worrier.
Tea tonight was lovely gammon and pineapple with salad, a really nice change. I managed to walk 40 mins last night and again tonight even with my dodgy knee. Hoping to lose a pound a week for the next 14 was before we leave for oz . Really hoping to get my wedding outfit in a smaller size.
Enjoyed A Mothers Son last night so going to catch up with that now.
    Have a good evening all J x

  • Evening all, just popped my head around the door to say Henry loved his first day at school and has already signed up for soccer trials tomorrow afternoon. He got straight on with his homework the minute he came in and actually hung up his blazer on a hanger (it won't last but its nice for the first week ).DD is working flat out at her job at the moment as three people are off on holiday so the phones just keep ringing. She is a lettings negotiator with an estate agents and this time of the year they get lots of frantic students trying to fix up their accomodation at the last minute. There are two uni's campus' locally Uni of Kent (medway) and Uni of greenwich(medway) so there are around 1700 odd students suddenly realising that the Halls are only for the first year.Frantic parents ringing to try and find houses for they youngsters to rent.Medway has a severe housing lettings shortage anyway for families let alone students. She didn't get home till gone seven again tonight and looked shattered.its only her second day back at work as well.Eldest DD is the business manager for a local special-needs school, and she is going through all the traumas of the first week back as well, with God and his children all wanting her to fix their problems.I feel quite underworked just looking after four boys :):)Ben loves the 6th form and said that in the free periods today he could sit out under the trees in the shade at school doing his homework, lucky blighter.Jack is back at school tomorrow as well so life will get slightly less manic during the day for me.
I have just made a dent in the ironing mountain but it was just too hot to finish it off so the rest can wait until tomorrow.Just off to read my new Jodi Picoult book Lone Wolf that I got from the library
Good night, God bless all here
