Car Park opposite The Peel Centre- B&M/Dreams Car Park PCN....similar probs

Hi,

I apologise for re-threading as i have seen a lot of the "Peel Centre" Excel Parking PCN threads etc I will try to keep this short...

I just wanted to know if anyone else had experienced this issue-

I parked up outside B&M Bargins opposite the Peel Centre on a Sunday, went into B&M, came out and popped over the road as one of the things i needed from B&M they didnt have so we checked over the road, came back to find a yellow PCN on my window and an initial £70 charge for breaking one of 8 contraventions, namely (and this is what it said in handwritten pencil) "went elsewhere" i.e. parked up and not enter the two stores.
Which i obviously did!

I had no idea a "parking company" could restrict where i place my two feet on the ground within Stockport, surely this is breech of human rights?

Thinking of ignoring it or clearly replying "Please check your CCTV and it will clearly show me entering the store, thus being a customer".

When I looked around, there was one square sign placed HIGH up (i am 5ft) in tiny writing stating these 8 rules, no signs are at eye level when entering the car park, to enter it you have to driver off the main road and turn into the car park quickly and park up as it is a small car park and lots of cars coming and going onto the main road quickly: hence signs placed above my height and the height of the car is VERY easily missed.

Has anyone else parked here and experienced this? Its very odd.

(sorry, this has turned out to be a long winded post!)

Thanks

  • Not odd at all. It's their business model - find any pathetic excuse to dish out a ticket. No, they can't restrict where you go, although they think they can.

The advice is still to completely ignore them. Don't try to get one up on the ticketing company by trying to explain yourself in any way. Your "appeal" will be rejected. The best approach is to force them to fork out the £2.50 for you details from the DVLA, and them ignore all the letters.

[Just to check. Is it your car, registered to your address? If it's a hire/lease/company car, then the advice is, in fact, to write to them, simply to deflect all their junk mail to you, and not to a third party who might impose an "admin" fee for the minimal work they need to do in forwarding the letters.]
  • Ah well you see because they obviously watched Excel get a spanking they decided to upgrade their professional image and start using pencils, now you've got to pay!

BTW you are aware that all of the side roads around there are free parking, all day everyday?
  • Which private ticketing company is involved?
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

    Its a while since i shopped at stockport, i think i will go soon to see if there are any early xmas bargains available, the peel centre seems a good place to browse for a few hours or so, when i have done ill find a nice cafe and have a cuppa and bite to eat for 45 mins or so (-;
PPCs say its carpark management, BPA say its raising standards..... we all know its just about raking in the revenue.
  • Park well away from the building works then, the dust covers everything. Including the discredited signs at the entrance.
  • I got one of these tickets whilst I was shopping in B&M yesterday. They are issued for and on behalf of VP Parking Solutions Ltd. Office 70, 151 High Street, Southampton, Hampshire, SO14 2BT Tel. 0871 265 7219
I've sent email below to info@vpparking.co.uk to which I fully expect a standard rejection letter. Bring it on!!!

I dispute the issue of this PCN and formally appeal this due to:
The Location is stated as Dreams Beds Stockport, when in fact this car park is for Dreams Beds Stockport AND B&M Stockport.
The issuer has stated 'WENT TO ELSEWHERE' which is incorrect as we was shopping in B&M at the time this PCN was issued and have the receipt to prove that, so I won't be paying the amount requested or give further patronage to either of these establishments if this is how they wish to treat their customers.

No point in threatening the parking goons with a boycott, they will not care. You need to tell the retailers.

While the general advice is to ignore them great fun can also be had baiting the PPC scammers. That said, I don't VP Parking Solutions give a monkey's about the two businesses in question just as long as they get their illegally extorted money.

    You emailed them?

They've just been suspended from accessing the DVLA database, we could have had some fun there.

Instead you'll be bothered by junkmail.
