Buying a 2nd hand iphone3 advice:)

Our daughter is saving up (slowly lol she's 13!) for an iPhone to replace her broken iPod touch and old htc mobile.....but there is no way I could afford a monthly bill for her,she is hoping to get a babysitting job with family to earn £5 a week and this would get her a £20 per month contract BUT I'm just wondering if there is anywhere to buy an iPhone 3 reasonably? I noticed some reconditioned ones on eBay but I thought I'd ask the wisdom of the mse boards before I look further!
Thanks guys

Ebay is the best place for a second hand phone, but there is some controversy about this as fraud is not unknown there - when a seller reports the handset lost or stolen after paypal protection expires.
And if she buys it outright, she definitely doesn't need £20 p.m. contract for it. Much cheaper options are available.0 -
If its a 3G dont do it, 3GS however go for it...internet is slow on iphone 3G. 3GS is second edition and faster by a long shot for surfing internet.
Also updates to operating system are limited for 3G, even 3GS missed out on some things when latest operating system l;aunched - i haver no doubt the next OS update soon as i5 launches soon will miss things out for 3GS model.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe

3GS download speed is 7.2/HSDPA but the upload is 384kbps as was the iphone 3G - Apple obviously didnt pay Nokia for a licence (shock horror lol)SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... Perfect, that's the advice I was looking for
I did notice some sellers on eBay saying they carry out a certain check to see if it's stolen etc and also cover it for 6wks or something to make sure it works!
We are all on 02 would you happen to have any advice on the best pay as u go tarrif that would allow her to use the Internet...I have iphone4s and can see how easily she could slip onto the Internet without realising so one with enough allowance would be good
Thank you all again, great advice xit takes more energy

Nothing with ebay provided the seller has 100% feedback. I got a brand new iphone 4 16gb (sealed & with full apple warranty) for only £310 on ebay last year so bargains can be found.
Also consider AV forums classified, its UK based and you can get some bargains there as well. Post a "wanted" ad there and pretty sure people will be offering to sell their iphone 3g or 3GS in no time there

Saving up for an iPhone sounds like a reasonable ambition for a 13 year old girl, but getting a contract is worth a rethink. There is a good reason why they don't give contracts to 13 year olds, and parents taking contracts out in their name can sometimes end badly. A quick search of this forum will demonstrate this.
What about a PAYG sim?0 -
I'd recommend a Giffgaff sim, I put my children on these and it saved me a fortune. My husband and I have also switched to them now.
I buy them a £10 'goodybag' each month which gives them 250 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited internet. You also get free Giffgaff to Giffgaff calls so we can all phone each for free. It uses the O2 network.
If you are referred by someone you also get free £5 to start.0 -

....................................gained from a decent number of transactions. 100% from 4, say, sales means nothing.
I am sure baby frogmella meant that as well.0 -
Sorry I ment that it would be pay&go but she would top it up every month or so ,so she will still need to have some sort of income to fund it as we have 4 daughters, that's why I can't just treat her to a monthly allowance much as I'd like to coz she's a super girl who does more around this house than her daddy lol!
I will try the av fourms thnx
and gifgaff sounds good...we would possibly all switch to that (well apart from me...02 have me by the neck for the next 2yrs lol)
Thanks xit takes more energy
