Slummy jars counted so £85 OP'ed

Tidying up the bank account (something I didn't use to do, so a new tip to follow) has led to 6.99 and 11.29 being OP'ed over the last week

Tip run today with boxes/bubble wrap from the garage, door hooks bought for the bedrooms so no excuse for leaving clothes on the floor

BF has just OP'ed another £10K from his house sale

Been looking at bathrooms, kitchens, boilers for most of the week, so need to start making some decisions but for the moment just enjoying living in the house

And early Christmas surprise - tickets for the Lion King for Jan :)

We will pay to get the big stuff done, less hassle, less stress, less arguing and done a lot quicker whilst we are at work :T

Decorating if just painting we would do ourselves, can't decide what to get though

Has anyone got an IKE@ kitchen?

Congratulations, Radish, and good luck in the new adventure!

Re the kitchen, I was given some advice about mine which is that if it's an old house it's better to not go with Ikea because the cupboards are like boxes and go straight back to the wall - not good if the wall isn't straight.

Where walls are likely to be uneven it's better to get cupboard carcasses that are an inch or so less deep so that the kitchen fitter can mould the bench to the shape of the walls without worrying about the fit of the carcasses.

Does that make sense at all?

If it wasn't for that I would have gone for an Ikea kitchen as I am sure they are fine.

We've got an Ikea kitchen in our old place, seemed absolutely fine to me. I doubt very much our walls were particularly straight. DH fitted it, took aaaaaages!

  • No ikea kitchen here (only just opened the savings account for a new kitchen) but very interested in your replies to Radish's request for ikea kitchen experiences!

Hi Radish by the way! How's the painting going? Still deciding on colours or have you slopped some on the walls yet?
