What happens when a contract ends?

I've always used PAYG up to now. However I just entered into a Talkmobile contract over two years with cashback by redemption. The actual cost will be £0.62 PM overall.
It's just occurred to me that I don't know what happens when the contract ends :p

It carries on using a rolling monthly contract.
ie you have to give a months notice when you wish to cancel
It's not just about the money
  • Thanks for your response.
Do you mean it carries on on the same terms, i.e. I send my bills in and they send me my money back?

    Yes

Where do you send the bills and why do they send you your money back?
Is it some redemption deal that you are talking about? If so, it doesn't carry on, but your contract with the network does.
  • Your contract has a minimum term of 24 months, after which you will continue paying the same monthly payments, and receive the same minutes/text/data. Your contract will not end after 2 years unless you tell TM to end it.

You normally have to give 30 days notice, so call them after 23 months and give them your notice.

It's unlikely any cash back deals will continue after the minimum period, normally you have to send bills in within set dates to get the cash back.
  • Sorry if I'm not making things clear.
The deal is through Mobiles.co.uk (24 month deal with 22 months free with cashback by redemption) and I claim cashback from them by posting them a copy of my phone bills at set intervals. They then refund the money. The eventual actual cost providing I remember to send in my bills is £0.62 per month.
I'm asking if this arrangement continues after the two year dael is over and if not what does happen.

The answer was in the posts #4 and #2.

And that answer is no, the cashback deal will almost certainly not continue. Your monthly payment will be whatever it is now before cashback (unless it increases in the next two years).

My understanding is that at the end of the deal with Mobiles.co.uk the cashback stops and the contract with Talkmobile carries on at the proper price (£7.50 pm) unless I cancel.
At that point I assume that I can either return to PAYG or look for another deal.
I may appear dim but I'm not really, it's just a new area for me. :o

Since your a mobile contract newbie, know this:

You can get a PAC (port authority code) to transfer your number to a new deal or payg, PAC is valid 30 days & if you dont use it then your contract will continue running on a month to month basis as you completed your minimum term ;) Call customer service at Talkmobile to request PAC.

Or if the number is not important just give 30 days notice to Talkmobile of closure of account - valid from month 23 onwards.
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)
