ebay item sent recorded delivery, not received

Frankly, I would be surprised if anyone in my position with the DVD declared the original purchase price. I'm not suggesting anyone should be dishonest - it's up to the conscience of the individual and I've never been in that position, I'm happy to say; it might also be hard proving purchase price when the item was bought online several years beforehand like that DVD - but they would accept an eBay invoice more readily from a private seller than from a business seller."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

im a private seller, when i had to do a claim from royal mail, i enclosed with rm paperwork printout of what seller paid, they refunded that, but not the cost of what I paid for the postage, so i refunded seller in full and i was out of pocket for £4 in postage.......xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0

It just seems weird that every other letter/package that was sent that month turned up. In this case I opened up a case for nonpayment (after 2weeks).

I'm not sure what you are trying to say- items get lost. You have used recorded and appear to suggest it does not show delivery- so it is immaterial what other parcels got there or not.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. What would be weird is if every other item that was posted got lost. One item going missing isn't strange at all.0 -

Do you mean to say that the buyer originally did not pay and you had to open a NPB against then to get payment in the first case? And now you are thinking this is a retaliatory INR claim? If so then it's easy to prove not; If you sent it recorded, you have the tracking number. You can check on the RM website which is clearly indicate if something has been delivered or not. If it's not delivered, it's stuck in the system or lost somewhere. In which case your complaint lies with RM and you need to refund the buyer. If it does show as received, you can forward this information onto the buyer so they know not to pull the wool over your eyes.
FWIW, I sold 3 things last Tuesday. Posted them all at the same time on Wednesday 1st class recorded. 2 have arrived, the third has not yet. Even when you post things at the same time, things sometimes get caught up in the system further."So long and thanks for all the fish" :hello:0 -

Not quite.
The RM website will only show if an item was delivered and a signature obtained, something which often fails to happen with recorded delivery.0 -

Yes, of course, although I must be lucky because I've never had an issue with signed for actually not being signed for.
Presumably in those circumstances, then RM will not have a recorded signature of any kind and will be liable anyway for not fulfilling the contract they have agreed to with the sender? Point is, I think, that if there's a signature and a name on the site, the seller has definitely received it and an INR is defensible that way. I think the OP said the website said it was in progress so in this case it's not been received and a genuine issue in delivery."So long and thanks for all the fish" :hello:0 -

The few times I have had to make a claim with RM as a Private seller, they have refunded the postage I paid - not the postage I charged on eBay. So if I charged 99p postage and it actually cost me 60p to send, RM would refund 60p plus the cost the item sold for.single_lonely wrote: »It just seems weird that every other letter/package that was sent that month turned up. What would be more weird is every packaging but one going missing.
Recorded Delivery is not reliable, it rarely gets signed for or updated on the website - this is not to say your buyer is falsley claiming an INR. You need to trust your buyer as you have no proof they received it (just that it was sent) and claim your loss from Royal Mail.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0
