Virgin Mobile - charges from abroad
Hi all
Wondered if this was common practice - I was in America at the start of August and while there received a call but made sure I did not answer as did not want to pay for this (knew it was a nonsense call). On my bill from Virgin I see they have still added a charge for this person calling and for the voicemail they left but I did not listen to - is this correct? I perhaps wrongly had assumed that by not answering I would not be charged.
Also this week I have been in Spain and when I landed received a text telling me the charges - on this it said texts were 7p. This has been listed as 8p per text on my bill, not what I was anticipating.
Is it worth ringing Virgin to check and challenge these costs or is it not worth the hassle?
Thanks

Regulation (EU) No 531/2012 prevents mobile networks from charging in this way only when roaming within the EEA. As the USA is outside the EEA, UK networks are free to charge you for the call to go to the USA and then bounce back to your voicemail box in the UK. Disable voicemail when roaming outside the EEA.On my bill from Virgin I see they have still added a charge for this person calling and for the voicemail they left but I did not listen to - is this correct? Becauuse of Regulation (EU) No 531/2012, the maximum you can be charged is €0.09 x 0.8293 x 1.20 = £0.0895644 including VAT. Is your 8p charge including VAT?Also this week I have been in Spain and when I landed received a text telling me the charges - on this it said texts were 7p.
