A 'secret' container to hold dinner tickets and change?

I'm wanting a small container that you can conceal a dinner ticket in and some loose change -just over £1 worth in coins. Something that doesn't look like what it is -iyswim. There were a few incidences of my son 'losing' (having stolen?) dinner tickets and bus fares last year from his bag and I found hiding them made a difference. I have spoken to son about taking more care but this year I want to concentrate on prevention rather than cure.

I was using a small metal tin with a key chain that I bought in Home Bargains, that the lid moved on but it's broken. Could kick myself for not buying more as they were 10p each and came with sweets in them (they have a staw wars emblem/pic on front if anyone has seen them).

When were things being nicked, during games or when his bag was left around during the day? You can get small wallets that slip on to belts - which would probably be fine if he has a locker for personal things for gym.

Personally I'd be approaching the school to ask what measures they're taking to identify the culprits and asking them to ensure that there is somewhere secure for them to leave necessary valuables when they can't be on the student's person.

I don't know when they went missing. Just son would come home saying he went for lunch looked for his dinner ticket and discover couldn't find it, that's why I don't know if he was losing them or having them stolen. When I put them in the tin I described it helped the situation, either because they were in something identifiable so not as likely to drop out of bag (if they were being lost) or they were hidden so not taken (if they were being stolen).

    ETA -there's no lockers.
  • Can he not keep the coins and ticket in his pocket, or can you sew a coin pocket on the inside of his trouser waistband?
I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

Have you tried asking him if they are lost/stollen? Is he getting on okay at school? Can you sew the purse to his belt like suggested, fit a coin purse inside his pocket or even rip open an internal bag pocket and stuff a little purse inside the bag lining?

why not just hide the tickets and change in a sock then roll it up with another one? doesnt work if child hauls it out in front of everyone to get ticket/change tho.

No he wasn't. There were problems earlier on this year and we had to get support for him at school. That being said i don't believe he's handing dinner tickets over because he feels intimidated.

Great idea. If it is someone going into his bag, then they are unlikely to unroll an extra pair of socks.

Write his name on the ticket? Might put them off - the sock idea sounds good (won't cling with money noise) - i'd suggest a pair of towelling ones washed in teabags (that look mucky and "crunchy")
