I'm with Plusnet and get a 60GB limit for around £25/month. That includes line rental and free calls (can't remember the package name though).
:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.
  • I have just phoned orange and they say that i am averaging 50GB/month, so unlimited is the way to go.
Good job I came on here and then phoned them or at £5/5GB over 10GB/month could have worked out quite expensive.

Decided that I am going to stick with orange (i think) and swap to their line rental when my free BB with orange runs out.
    Thanks all.

Thanks for the Talktalk offer but I dont think that i have seen a good review/press coverage of this company. I could have just read all the bad ones of course:-)

I will install the meter and have a look, but will it also give me a record of anything that i dont do on my laptop, like xbox online gaming, and iplayer watches?

This isn't a very scientific survery as I'm a sample of one but I have never had a problem with talk talk and have been with them over 5 years.
Apparently I'm 10 years old on MSE. Happy birthday to me...etc
  • I'm wondering if this is right - maybe you lot have an idea. I'm looking at changing ISP. Currently with AOL - I never had a problem with them until they became Talktalk and now it's like surfing through treacle (I can set my clock by it!)

Rang them and asked what my average usage is and was told between 32 and 40 Mb download, so would be ok on a 1Gb package. Now that doesn't sound like a lot, but if it's about right, I can happily go with a lower package - surely I can upgrade easily enough?

I have 1 PC, 3 laptops and 2 smart phones in the house, although usually only 3 in use at once. I work from home so PC on most of day. Always have at least 1 browser open, Facebook, and google earth. Listen to radio online and a bit of youtube, occasional iplayer catch up. My boys play Minecraft (and similar) online prob 30 hours total between them and listen to youtube/spotify and skype. I know these aren't massive users of downloads but surely 40Mb is way too little?

Looking at going to Plusnet btw :)

I would check your figures first 1 Mb = 1 Million bits , and if you can get by on a 1 Gb download / month I would be very surprised , as a ball park guess a 30 minute iPlayer SD would be say 500Mb

Noooo  I thought they'd gone out of business. Frankly the only company I'd ever wished that on, and only out of pity for their [STRIKE]victims[/STRIKE] customers.

That's what I thought debitcardmayhem. I asked her several times to repeat the figures she gave me, made sure she was talking Mb and not Gb etc.

She swears blind that in July I used 32,060 Mb download. When I ring them again for my MAC I might ask them. Surely zooming around on Google Earth street view would use more than that in a month, the amount i have to use it! If she'd have said 40 Gb, I would have thought that nearer to the mark lol

Just rung their tech dept (on a free call too) and asked again. It appears I'm using 15-20GB per month. Now that's more like it!

    That's 32 Gb
How do I add a signature?
  • I did say is this the same as 32Gb but said no, it was under 1 Gb! And she was in the tech dept!! And I'm the techno-numpty lol. So how come then, my monthly limit has now halved?

As long as I'm well under the 60Gb limit, I'll be ok with Plusnet ;) Unless I go with Sky ..... off to do some more research .......
